Today we’d like to introduce you to Jana Coke.
Hi Jana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My fashion origin story begins in high school where I was an avid collector of Seventeen, Teen Vogue, Sassy, Honey, and YM magazines. I was inspired by articles, editorials layouts, and the advertisements which helped cultivate my interest in fashion. I attended FIDM and then LIM in New York and spent 15 years as a merchandiser in the industry before launching into full-time entrepreneurship as a personal wardrobe stylist.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I specialize in wardrobe development which gets into the “whys” of shopping habits, styling influences, and cultural relevances of personal style. It’s contrary to the micro trends that’s so prevalent when the topic of fashion is discussed. It can be challenging to encourage my clients to lead with authentic aesthetic expression when the prominent voices speak the opposite.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I bring my ministry training into my work as a personal wardrobe stylist. My clients are people- mostly women- that identify their need to claim their authenticity. It’s usually triggered by a life changing event such as shifts in career, relationships, and an overall new way of experiencing life.
I aesthetically merge who they are with who they are becoming.
How do you define success?
Success is defined by contentment and gratitude for the every lived experience.
