Conversations with NIC G

Today we’d like to introduce you to NIC G.

Hi NIC, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born Anthony L. Nickerson, Jr. on November 7th, to Renee and Anthony L Nickerson, and raised in Historic South Central Los Angeles. As far back as I can remember I always had an interest in the way things worked, taking apart VCRs, TV’s, Radios and other household appliances; which is how Saalik Kanike and I somewhat met. The 1st thing I ever did with a car was install my uncle’s equalizer in his 79′ Pontiac Trans Am, which was not a simple wiring task; that’s where I learned to read instructions. The hardships of the street did more than hit home, the crack epidemic entered my house through more than nightly News Stories, it came and took a hold of my parents; which led me down the road to rebellion. During this time I became good at borrowing other people’s cars without keys or permission, which led me to learn more about engines and allowed me to experiment and sharpen my skills; which gave me the knowledge and confidence to work on other’s vehicles.

At the age of 18 I retired from my job as a Rebel, continuing for years with my love of vehicles and ended up in 2 relationships; one with Danyell Williams, the mother of my daughter, and the second with a 74′ Chevy Impala. Before the DIY craze I was an avid AutoZone visitor, not just for the parts I needed to please my Impala, but I ended up purchasing every Haynes Vehicle Repair Manual I would need to build my knowledge and move me forward; starting with the Chevy Impala Haynes Manual. Danyell, my 1st relationship, was a paraplegic since the age of 9, so she thought she was unable to drive; and I used my 2nd relationship to show her how wrong she was. I ended up installing the Hand/Foot Controls into the Impala myself so she could take the drivers test, which she did, and passed to get her California Drivers License. That same Impala, that I had put so much care and love into, took us to our new home in Arkansas; where I continued to master my craft. I made my name by taking a Fuel Injected Power Train from a 87′ Chevy Suburban and transferring it into a 78′ El Camino, wire harness, computer and all; which was a job in itself because fuel injection did not exist in the 78′ El Camino. That job led me to my 1st Mechanic job in Pine Bluff, Arkansas at 3 Star Automotives. After years of learning more about my craft at 3 Star, and the business side of automotives, that led me to work at Pastor Willie Edwards shop; where I had the opportunity to work on race cars learning nitrous installation and more. The coronavirus, and again lack of people doing good business, was a blessing for me because it led to more opportunity, working in the garage of the Pine Bluff Police Department and the birth of NIC’s Quick Fixx; when I started pulling up. My last job in Arkansas was working in the Chrysler/Dodge Dealership, where I had the honor of changing the motor in a $100,000 Jeep Trackhawk.

Upon returning home to Los Angeles, I was still into automotives as it had become my career and lifestyle; which is something that Saalik Kanike noticed. Saalik put me in touch with his production company, Amator Only Productions LLC, The Professional Amateurs!? Then, with the advice of my childhood friend, I connected with Antwain K Hollis LLC to create and open up Anthony L Automotives LLC, doing business as NIC’s Quick Fixx. Returning home to Los Angeles was not all by choice, Danyell had passed away and I was now a single father of a 13 Year old daughter. This only increased my desire to be my own boss, and using the skills I had been building to create a future for my family. That is how I decided that Anthony L Nickerson Automotives LLC should grow, starting with my mobile automotive technician business NIC’s Quick Fixx.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life is never a smooth road, regardless of your upbringing, but it’s how you overcome and move forward that determines your future. The struggles and obstacles of my Los Angeles up brining equipped me with the ability to learn, evolve, and mature wherever I reside. All that I have faced and had to overcome in my life, from my parents addiction that led to my rebellion, has brought me here, because struggle breeds greatness. That is why NIC’s Quick Fixx will make sure that, with all the struggles we face today, your vehicle will not be one of them. I understand the importance of mobility, because transportation is one of the necessities of life.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I wear many hats in this world, from being the recording artist and Podcast host NIC’ G, which means Nothing I Can’t Get With, to being an on-call Mobile Automotive Technician, Pulling Up On You; as NIC’s Quick Fixx. I am also very focused on building generational wealth, working with Antwain K Hollis LLC, in the creation of Anthony L Nickerson Automotives; the parent company of NIC’s Quick Fixx. This will allow me to sell vehicles in the future, with a NIC’s Quick Fixx Warranty; this will guarantee the vehicle you buy is fully inspected and covered. If you are in search of automotive service go to AmatorStarz.com to book your appointment with NIC’s Quick Fixx, and I’ll Pull Up On You!?

As an Emcee I am most proud of my songs “Anthony Nickerson’s the Name”, my upcoming release “Unfadeable” and the single I am currently working on; the NIC’s Quick Fixx Theme. I have been working with Saalik Kanike on music anytime we have had the chance, that is leading to my 1st Full Release, “Tool Box”

As a Podcast host, which is something that is new and exciting to me, I am proud to be a part of the daring, fun and entertaining “We Got 2 Podcast Shows!?” that I host with Saalik Kanike. I also look forward to sharing my automotive knowledge with the general public, car enthusiast and car owners on the podcast “NIC’s Quick Fixx”

As an on-call Mobile Automotive Technician I am most proud of all the work that I did on my 74′ Chevy Impala, the job that everyone was afraid to do, because it had not been done with the 78′ El Camino, and the job that I did for the Dodge/Chrysler Dealership on the supercharged Jeep Trackhawk.

What sets me apart is my approach to how I do business, with honesty. I am in business to make money, like every business is, but that doesn’t mean I have to get rich from every job; so I make sure that my prices are reasonable even in emergencies. The other thing that sets me apart from any other Emcee/Mobile Automotive Technician is that, from what I know, I am the Only 1.

How do you think about happiness?
Seeing my daughter happy brings me the most joy I can imagine. So, connecting with Antwain K Hollis LLC, in the creation of Anthony L Nickerson LLC, doing business as the on-call mobile automotive technician NIC’s Quick Fixx, allows me to set up a foundation for her future happiness.
