Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Chen.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After graduating from UCLA, I started as an assistant to 2 amazing realtors in Beverly Hills. I learned the business from ground up with their guidance and realized I had a passion for real estate. My father was a developer in Taiwan so I grew up hearing about real estate here and there. Fast forward today, I am now representing buyers and sellers in Los Angeles achieve their real estate goals.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s a new lesson every day. I’ve learned so many lessons in the years that I’ve been in the business and it’s fascinating. With every transaction, you’re surrounded by an entirely new team with different personalities and parties and it’s figuring out how to make things work for everyone.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am a real estate agent with Douglas Elliman based on the Westside of Los Angeles. I specialize in helping first-time homebuyers, income properties, and 1031 exchanges. I’m proud of the company that I am with – originally Teles Properties, which was recently acquired by Douglas Elliman (November 2017). I do speak Mandarin which has helped quickly a bit in my career as well. I approach my business very educationally because I believe if you have all the information then an informed decision is the best decision.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Amazing! The real estate market is still booming. My recommendation if you’re just starting out is to be an assistant so you can learn about the business. Anyone can get their license, but practicing real estate is a whole other story! As you learn about the real estate market and business, you could gradually branch off on your own or become a buyer’s agent on a team.
