Today we’d like to introduce you to Papi Flay
Hi Papi , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My love for music began when my pops use to take me and my brothers to school bumping Tupac, Biggie, Spice One, Lil Wayne and other music legends thru his 30′ subwoofers in the back of our family suburban truck. It also began when my Grandmother would take my brother and I to church on Sundays and I fell in love with the band and the choir. It started when my aunts and uncles would have me play the piano and keyboard every time I went to their house. Rest in Peace to them. I got where I am today by being disciplined. By not being afraid to fail. By tuning out the outside noise.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. There have been times where I pushed projects back because of second and triple thoughts. Where I dropped music and it didn’t seem to make a sound our recruit a fan. Ive definitely had times where I wondered if music was even for me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a artist and producer. Im known for my style of beats and sampling style. Im also known for my drum patterns. What sets me apart is my individuality. Im not looking to be anybody else but myself. Yes we take inspiration from others but that should merely be a characteristic or a weapon to be used when the time is right.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Ive been writing poetry since I was in the 5th grade. I believe that is what made me start rapping writing. When i was in elementary school my grandmother would have perform poems in school events.
