Life & Work with Heavens Project of Montclair, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heavens Project.

Hi Heavens, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Heavens Project is a group formed in Montclair California, in early 2022, driven by a passion for composing songs that exalt the name of God. All members—Abraham Velázquez, Joshua Velázquez, Mari Valázquez, Kitsu Velázquez, Delaiah Aguilar, and Nehemias Aguilar—gained experience in worship ministry in their respective churches before coming together to form the project.

They collaborated with Sons of Thunder, with whom they had the privilege of participating in the choir for the live production of Miel San Marcos “Evangelio” at Crypto.com in Los Angeles, California. The recording was a sold-out performance, reaching an audience of over 20,000 people. During this opportunity, we recognized our ability to work together, enjoy our company, and create original music that authentically reflects our faith. We began performing some covers, but in January of 2024, we took a major step in faith by releasing original songs that remind our listeners that our home is in heaven.

Heavens Project’s mission is inspired by Matthew 4:17, committing to be a channel that carries the truth of God’s Word through its songs. Its vision extends globally, inviting all nations to join the movement. We believe that we are a movement/project in gods hands with the goal to get to heaven.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Obstacles- Heavens project has understood that a journey without obstacles is a journey without growth. Every challenge and obstacle has molded us too become more of who God wants us to become. But the most important thing is that we have learned to embrace the challenge, remember in this kingdom it really is expect the unexpected. Not everything flows or is perfect in this walk. But the necessary challenges will come, so learn to embrace them and grown. Just Remember what  Romans 8:28 states, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him. Some of the biggest challenges we’ve had to face has been accepting in our self the calling of the Lord. Like being creative, being consistent, understanding the purpose in our calling, knowing who we are trying to reach with our music and many more when you put yourself in a place as a messenger.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risk taking- it is making a decision where the outcome is uncertain. Sounds a lot like faith to us. Faith is the assurance of things we hope for the conviction of things not seen. We understand we don’t see what’s in store for heavens project but we are certain that God is taking us where he wants to take us. He is the captain of this boat and every risk we take we know that even in the impossible, like taking a step on solid ground like taking a step on water, as long as we keep our focus on him and our eyes on him we know that risk is not so risky because he is with us. Can you say heavens project takes risk, absolutely. We have take the risk to share the gospel and the message of our Lord Jesus Christ thru our music to a generation that can possibly reject it, but greater than the risk is the outcome. Without any risk we aren’t able to know if the message is being conveyed.
