Daily Inspiration: Meet Andres Lerma

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andres Lerma

Hi Andres, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was a little boy, I saw the cartoons on tv because they’re very creativity and funny. That’s what led me to like animation. After high school, I went to the animation school and I learn how to design characters, how to do sound effects, compose the animation videos, sounds, voices, and background music in Adobe Premiere. I began to create my own animation video at age 22, until now. I enjoyed doing animation and I created my own character like Quetzy Quetzal.

Quetzy Quetzal is one of my favorite animation work and my mentor Tawd has assisted me with putting my short animated film on my YouTube channel.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
During this time, there has been struggles along the way. One of my struggles is to get into program because of the cost. There are some programs that are out of my budget. Another struggle is to find a job in this field as an animator is difficult because too many people wanted to be animators/artist.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m animator/artist and that is my passion. I design characters, backgrounds and make short stories by writing a script. What I’m most proud of is creating my own stories and characters. For example, Quetzy is my main character that I create in short films and movies.

What sets me apart from others is that I use my imagination to create something new. For example, I include my family culture in the short animated films. Also, I composed my own background music for my short animated films. The animation has helped me to grow as an animator because I can expand my imagination without no limits.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is traveling to San Francisco because we drove through the Golden Gate Bridge. I visited my aunt, uncle and my cousins in San Rafael. I enjoyed watching the scenic view of San Francisco City.
