Check Out Cassandra Kouremenos’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Kouremenos

Hi Cassandra, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is KALLITECHNIS, which means “master of craft”, in Greek. In the big scope, I’m a musical and visual artist who’s obsessed with colours and how they can enhance our lives. Zooming in, I’m a Greek-Montrealer who currently lives in LA. My music is the way I process both the external world and my internal one. My intention is to share my art so that people can recognize themselves in it and be reminded that we’re all connected. I grew up singing along to musicals and probably became fascinated by colours by watching and re-watching movies like The Wizard Of Oz. Right now, through songwriting and music videos, I’m trying to bridge the gap between the real world and the escapist fantasies that inspired me as a kid. Living in LA feels like the perfect city to explore the surrealism that I believe keeps us motivated as humans. In a sense, I guess I believe in magic: the kind that exists every time you successfully make something out of nothing. After all, I never thought I’d be living in LA, and yet, today, that’s my reality!

In the next 6 months, I’m going to be finalizing a project called My Life In Technicolour, inspired by the influence Old Hollywood movies and musicals have had on me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been up and down and all around. The biggest struggles are probably not believing my own doubts and insecurities. Another is being reactive and thinking that power lies outside of me. The struggles have taught me to re-align with what’s within me. Learning how to regulate my emotions has also helped. People too. As humans we need people. I’m grateful to not go through this life alone.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m very much a hybrid in many ways: personally and creatively, which I guess makes sense since my art is an interpretation of my life. I like juxtaposition and I like fusing styles both visually and sonically. I see myself in art that combines approaches because I like to witness the synergy of worlds you wouldn’t expect to collide together. The mantra that helps guide me through my career is SOUL OVER EGO. I use it as a compass to guide decision-making as I navigate an industry that is very ego-centric. Lately, another idea I’ve been inspired by is this notion that we create our realities. I’ve been reading a book by Dr Joe Dispenza called “Becoming Supernatural” and it’s been empowering me to transform my world through a positive attitude and elevated emotions like gratitude. I believe in manifestation and strongly feel like I’m where I am right now because I once imagined it and aligned my actions with this reality. I’m most proud of my growth as a songwriter and performer. What sets me apart is that when others give up, I’m going to keep going, because this is a way of life for me there’s no plan b.

What does success mean to you?
Success is being able to choose. It’s being free and being able to create peace from within.
