Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Newsome

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a New Jersey native, and I’ve always been drawn to music. In high-school I did a few off-broadway productions and found myself in two boyband projects. Neither of the groups panned out, but the training was invaluable.

I attended Berklee College of Music for 2 years, and moved to LA in 2017. I spent as much time as I could networking and writing.

My first real “break” was in 2019 when I was featured on NBC’s “Songland”. On the show I had the opportunity to write songs for Kelsea Ballerini and Megan Trainor.

That got me my first publishing, management, and record deals. I’ve since been writing and producing for myself and others.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wouldn’t say smooth. The boybands, for instance, were brutal. I learned at an early age how to pick apart my physical appearance and mannerisms because of the microscope me and the boys were under.

Songland came and went, and the show wasn’t picked up. It felt like it never happened. In 2023 I had to move back with my mother in New Jersey because I was flat broke. My publishing deal had ended and I had no idea what I was doing.

I firmly believe that everything comes in waves, and I’ve grown to be more and more thankful for the lows. The highs are high in my line of work, and at the end of the day it’s a huge blessing to be able to do what I do.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Nowadays I’m known for an Ear Training series on social media. I take existing hits and add harmonies to them. The harmonies change quickly, and I make sure to detail every change and harmony. It’s a fun game to play with my followers, they eat it up.

Recently I’ve also written songs for hit K-pop stars like TOMORROW X TOGETHER and Irene of Red Velvet. I get to finally live out my dream of working with groups without all the scrutiny. That said, I’ve never released my own album before, and I’m making it my mission to release a full-length project this year.

I’m proud to still be making music. So many of my friends have quit for a million reasons, but nothing else lights my fire the way music does. This is my calling.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
