Rising Stars: Meet Elizabeth Ziniel of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Ziniel

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born and raised in a small town in Iowa with a pretty big family. I began dancing when I was 3 years old, along with my two older sisters. My mom raised me to love the art of dance, rather than just competing. Every year she would ask me if I still love it and why, this simple check in grew my appreciation and love for dance beyond words. At the age of 14, there was a guest choreographer who came in from LA and told my studio owners I would be a professional dancer one day. At the age of 19 I moved out to LA to pursue dance as a career. I am currently still out in LA dancing and have been introduced to so many amazing people and been blessed to be in some really cool spaces.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t believe pursuing a dream is ever a smooth road, but I really can’t complain. All the struggles you face as an artist faces are very shaping and have led me to who I am today. Moving from a small town in Iowa to Los Angeles was and is very daunting, but an experience I am so thankful to have. This city has opened my eyes to so many things, for better and for worse lol, and really shaped my perspective of the arts and life as a whole.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a movement artist. I don’t love the term “professional dancer” because it feels limiting. I use movement to communicate and share my ideas. I am very proud of how my movement has developed and how much I have learned through it. Movement brings people together and curates very cool spaces. I really enjoy learning and understanding the history and art of dance as a culture.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Intention, doing everything with an intention.

Pricing:

  • I do offer private lessons and choreography for dance studios, not sure if I would list prices necessarily but would definitely love to mention that service
