Meet Kamiko Wilkerson of KEEPITTCUTTE.COM in Carson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kamiko Wilkerson.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My first love was dance then I grew to also love fashion. I wanted to become a fashion designer which lead to me wanting to become a stylist. I grew tired of waited on photographers to get images of my work. I began to get into body painting also. I was told before that I take good pictures on my iPhone so I would body paint of my friends and take pictures of them on my iPhone. After a year of doing that I invested in my first DSLR camera, canon rebel. After that I continued to grow and study photography on my own with researching and experimenting.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Life throws you curve balls and as an artist sometimes we all have moments when we feel uninspired. I also have moments when I feel down and some when I feel on top of the world. Once I started working more on being a bettering myself mentally, physically and spiritually it’s helped me to grow into the woman I’m meant to be.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about KEEPITTCUTTE.COM – what should we know?
My business is mainly focused on photography. I also creative direct, location scout and style my shoots. I also do videography when upon request. I’ve started to get back into sketching and I am now studying graphic design so that I can create my own designs for apparel and create websites from the ground up. I’m a creator so anything creative definitely interests me. It’s my favorite way to express myself.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Determination. As long as you’re determined there’s nothing you can’t do. There’s no such thing as impossible to you. Giving up won’t be an option for you. No matter what life throws you you’ll be prepared to get hit but pick yourself back up.
