Check Out Kapri’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kapri

Kapri, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I decided to become a singer and move to LA when I was four years old. I remember sitting at my grandparents’ house, watching reruns of Beverly Hills, 90210 and loving every second of it. I told my mom and grandma the plan right then and there—and had no clue why they started laughing! It became a running joke in our family for quite some time… until I actually did it.

Music has always been a huge part of my life. I’m a classically trained pianist, and I can also play the cello, oboe, ukulele, and guitar. But I don’t really think of myself as an instrumentalist—I feel most at home when I’m just singing. I’ve been writing music and playing shows for as long as I can remember, and I’m an absolute stage animal. Right now, I’m working on new material, and I can’t wait to get back to live performances soon.

Outside of music, I’m a Prix St. George-level dressage rider and love the creative side of film—whether it’s writing, filming, or designing sets. That’s also why I invent, design, and direct all my music videos myself.

I just released a song called High Stakes (No Wonder), and I’m really excited about how it’s been received so far. It’s a track that combines my love for blending genres and pushing creative boundaries, and I think it captures a lot of the emotions I’ve been feeling lately. The production is fresh, and the lyrics come from a very personal place—exploring how we sometimes take risks in relationships, not knowing if they’ll pay off, and about self destructing and finding help in the most unlikely places.

But that’s just the beginning! I have a lot of new music coming this year, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone. So, definitely stay tuned and make sure to follow my social media closely to make sure you don’t miss out—it’s all really cool and full of surprises!

The next track I’m releasing is called Nightmares, and I’m really excited about this one too. It’s going to feature the same talented team as High Stakes, with Indio Downey on guitar and bass and Piotr Zegzuła handling the mix. Nightmares is a song that dives deep into the frustration of miscommunication in a relationship. It’s all about trying so hard to understand someone, only to realize that the real issue is that they just don’t love you back. It’s an emotional rollercoaster, and I think a lot of people will relate to the feeling of trying to make something work when it’s already beyond repair.

It’s a bit of a darker vibe compared to High Stakes, but I’m excited for the contrast—it’s a song I’ve poured a lot of raw emotion into, and I think it will really resonate.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think any musician in history has ever had a completely smooth road! Plus, that would make for a pretty boring story—and not much inspiration. It’s absolutely safe to say that when I’m someday ready to write my memoir, it’s going to be one really entertaining book! I’ve had so many fun adventures (and a few not-so-fun ones), faced various struggles—some totally ridiculous, some completely unexpected—and met a lot of fantastic people along the way. Some have helped me through tough times, and others have simply inspired my songs!

When it comes to struggles, I like to see them as stepping stones to something bigger and better, so I try not to dwell on them too much. If something really bothers me, it usually just ends up as inspiration for my next song.

One of my biggest challenges? Trying to carry a full cup of coffee, a guitar case, and a notebook while opening a studio door with my foot. Or the fact that I constantly write down song ideas in the most inconvenient places—shampooing my hair? Suddenly, a full chorus pops into my head. Driving? Boom, a melody I have to record right now. And let’s not even talk about trying to decipher my voice memos later. To myself, or anyone else.

That said, one thing that definitely gets to me is being away from my family. I get homesick a lot, but I love LA for so many reasons—especially for how much it allows me to grow and focus on my art. At the end of the day, I see challenges as part of the adventure. If something throws me off, I just turn it into a song—or at least a funny story to tell later!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a singer, songwriter, musician, and producer—basically, if it involves music, I’m all in. I’ve had major hits on Polish radio, won the DCA Mayor of LA Award, and took home two Hollywood Music in Media Awards. I’ve also worked on multiple movies and commercials, collaborating with brands like Disney, Corona, Fendi, and Wolfgang Pugh, among others.

But what I’m most proud of? The music I’m releasing now. It blends so many of the genres that inspire me, and for the first time, I feel like I’m fully embracing who I am as an artist. I get to be 100% authentic, write about what truly moves me, and handle my own production—everything from the idea to sound design. It’s been a journey, but growing as a producer has been one of the most exciting parts.

I also love the people I get to work with. Collaboration is everything to me, and I’m lucky to create with artists who share my values, both musically and personally. Music isn’t just about the sound—it’s about the connection, the stories, and the people who bring it to life. I love working with Indio, who is one of the most (if not THE most) dedicated and hard working musicians I have ever met, I loved being in the studio with Anthony Resta, and collaborating with Butch Walker and Bruce Watson on the previous release. I loved playing shows with Hisako Ozawa, Jokull Jonsohn, and sharing stages with The Futureheads, FELIN, Travis Cormier, and many many other extremely talented musicians. These people really live and breathe music, and I had an amazing opportunity to grow with them, which I will always cherish.

What sets me apart? For one, my influences are all over the place in the best way possible. Being Polish gives me a whole separate market to explore, and my background brings a fresh perspective to my music. Lyrically, I have a unique way of structuring songs—words are my favorite thing to play with. And vocally, even though I rarely show it in my songs, I have a crazy range, spanning from F2 to E6.

But more than anything, I think what really makes me different is the way I approach music. To me, it’s not just about making a great song—it’s about telling a story in a way that feels fresh, raw, and completely me.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I’d say the most important quality behind my success is that I never give up. I’m absolutely relentless. No matter what comes my way, I stay focused, figure it out, and push through. The music industry is full of ups and downs, and sometimes you just have to keep going even when things get tough or seem entirely impossible.

Another key characteristic is my ability to adapt quickly to new situations. Whether it’s switching between genres, working with new collaborators, or facing unexpected changes, I thrive in situations where I can think on my feet and evolve, or have to learn something new. I’ve grown to realize that being flexible and open to change is crucial for staying relevant and growing as an artist, and as a human.

I also always find new, fun, and creative ways to approach things. While circumstances can temporarily derail me, I try my hardest to make the best out of the situation I’m in. If something throws me off, I either focus on it and move that part of my life forward, or I figure out how to turn it into something creative—a new song, a screenplay, or even a book or story.

And I don’t like staying still for too long. It keeps me on my toes and pushes me to find fresh ways to work on my art and keep evolving. Whether it’s a new project or a different approach to an old one, I’m always looking for ways to keep moving forward.
