Daily Inspiration: Meet Kaira Hassell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaira Hassell

Hi Kaira, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started back at home in Yonkers Ny. Growing up singing solos in church choirs and the national anthem before basketball games, I decided to study music at the college level. I explored singing background for other artists but once I started writing my own music it led me to Los Angeles. I signed with a label and am now working on my next project.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think finding my identity sonically has been a journey that hasn’t been easy. Trying to figure out if I want to do secular music has also been a decision that i’ve had to pray about. Once I decided the genre, exploring and discovering the intricacies of the music business has been the biggest challenge so far. As a creative making the music is the easiest part, but can sometimes get blurred out by business. When the music suffers you can’t make money, but if the business suffers it’s hard to make music because you’re so focused on paying bills and staying alive. True balance has been important to me.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a musician/performer. I specialize in live performances. I just had my first sold out show in NYC in December and I’m super proud. I think my intention and care for my performances set me a part from other artists today. I take my craft seriously.

How do you define success?
Success is finding the balance in health and spirit. I believe everything falls into place once those two things are stable.
