Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Decker
Hi Vanessa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Vanessa Decker, I’m a big ol’ Horror fan. Love watching movies & rating them like I’m Cisco and Ebert. Haha.
I’m guilty of being a full blown Disney adult. However I feel like I file in more w/ the Disney villains than princess’s! 🤭 Also this past year my gal pal & I created an 80’s Horror workout called Slashercise. It’s both a movie and actual workout video! Definitely felt like we needed that out for people to enjoy! Hehe. 💪🏻🔪 So yeah, while I’m not immersed in the lovely Horror world or making TikToks at Disney, I’m a permanent makeup artist by day and it’s a Dream.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Tons! Creating, producing & filming Slashercise, while it was SO much fun, it also took all of Ama & I’s blood, sweat & tears. Such an experience, and with that you learn a whole gaggle of things you’d do differently. Typically when you’re doing something you’re really passionate about comes the need for it to be perfect! And you learn that thats not always necessary. I’m naturally an over thinker and will over think all of my work, even when I know it’s meant for fun. So that too can make you feel like you are even creating your own road blocks. Ya know. Just to say the least! 🤭
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I feel like I’m mostly known in the lovely Horror world! I have a really fun horror variety show called Hello Horror that is streaming on Screambox now with Bloody Disgusting where we play games, have special guests who are also in the horror community, visit local events, attend red carpet premieres & more. Again it’s a full variety show catered to the wonderful world of horror. So much fun to watch. In the past 3 months I’ve been fully immersed in the lovely world of Slashercise again because come end of May, this year we are opening up Killer Fitness in Burbank. More on this, come end of April, but there’s the bug in the ear I’m giving for now haha!
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Being consistent. When I first started my YouTube, it popped off and did GREAT! I just kinda stopped posting as much and for no reason at all and if i had only kept up w it, it could have been incredible to date! And really that goes for any platform. Find your niche or what you’re good at or love doing and just do tons of THAT!! Don’t over think stuff and don’t compare. Just be your own original, iconic, magical soul and kill it. All the rest organically will follow! 🖤
