Daily Inspiration: Meet Brett Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brett Davis

Hi Brett , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Brett Davis aka Rollan Buds

A pioneer in cannabis, Brett Davis, better known as Rollan Buds, has been blazing trails in the industry long before legalization became mainstream. He got his start as CEO of a cannabis co-working space in Denver, helping shape the early business landscape before moving to Los Angeles to create a booming 420-friendly travel market. Many multi state edible brands started in our kitchen!

As the mastermind behind Weed Bus LA, Brett has expanded beyond just cannabis tours, introducing demographic-based experiences like the Slay Ride—a fabulous journey through iconic gay film & TV locations that shaped queer culture. This star-studded itinerary hits must-see spots like the Golden Girls House, Modern Family’s Dunphy home, Clueless filming locations, and, of course, an homage to all things Real Housewives and Bravo TV.

Now, Brett is taking things digital with his latest venture, WonderARound App—an augmented reality tour guide that lets visitors explore LA’s most famous attractions at their own pace. Whether it’s rolling through Hollywood or a self-guided AR adventures, like the world’s first Cannabis Lounge Crawl,
Rollan Buds is always elevating the way people experience LA.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. Blazing a path in a brand-new industry is never easy—it’s been a journey filled with growing pains, constant pivoting, and learning from mistakes. What works for traditional businesses doesn’t always apply in the cannabis space, and federal legality issues create even more hurdles.

Ironically, during my move to Denver, I was arrested for cannabis along the drive.. The non-cannabis job I had lined up fell through because of the arrest, but that twist of fate led me to a new opportunity. Instead, I was hired to grow a cannabis co-working space and edibles testing kitchen, putting me at the forefront of the legal industry before it fully took off.

Navigating cannabis tourism in Los Angeles came with its own challenges, from changing regulations to breaking into mainstream travel markets, but each obstacle has only reinforced my drive to push the industry forward.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work revolves around cannabis-friendly travel, giving people the chance to explore Los Angeles in a way that’s fun, immersive, and uniquely elevated. I specialize in curating high-end cannabis tours and events, from the Weed Bus LA, where guests can experience dispensaries, lounges, and iconic LA landmarks, to specialty tours like the Slay Ride, which celebrates queer film and TV history with stops at legendary locations from Golden Girls, Modern Family, Clueless, and Real Housewives.

I’m most proud of my ability to push the boundaries of cannabis tourism while making it accessible, mainstream, and unforgettable. What sets me apart is that I don’t just create tours—I build experiences tailored to different communities, whether it’s cannabis connoisseurs, LGBTQ+ travelers, or pop culture lovers.

Now, I’m expanding my vision into the digital world with WonderARound App, an augmented reality tour guide that allows visitors to explore LA on their own time. This fusion of tech, tourism, and cannabis culture is what makes my work stand out—I’m always looking for the next innovative way to connect people, places, and experiences in a way that feels authentic and exciting.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in luck—God has a plan, and I’m just here for the ride. Every challenge, every setback, and every unexpected opportunity has been part of a bigger picture. When things didn’t go as planned—like getting arrested for cannabis on my way to Denver or losing a job before stepping into the industry—it wasn’t bad luck, it was a redirection toward something greater.

That mindset has shaped my business. Cannabis is unpredictable, full of legal hurdles and industry shifts, but I trust that every pivot leads to growth. Instead of luck, I believe in hard work, faith, and seizing opportunities when they reveal themselves.
