Meet Fanni Fragner of West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fanni Fragner

Hi Fanni, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been passionate about film. Initially, I aspired to be an actor, but I soon realized that pursuing that path in Hungary, my home country, would be challenging. So, I started exploring roles behind the camera that aligned with my skills and personality. That’s when I discovered the role of an Assistant Director. It felt like the perfect fit—I’m highly organized, excel at coordinating people, and thrive in leadership roles. Since I didn’t have many connections in the industry, I decided to enroll in a two-year Assistant Director program to gain the necessary knowledge and experience. Shortly after, I landed my first opportunity on a movie set—working on the video game adaptation Borderlands. Not a bad start for my first film, right? From there, I continued to work on major productions, becoming part of some of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an Assistant Director and working on film sets is both demanding and rewarding. It requires you to be fully present—physically and mentally—at all times. The long hours can be intense, sometimes 14-16 hours on set, often in challenging conditions, like freezing cold at 5 AM. But filmmaking requires sacrifices—whether it’s sleep, social life, or personal time. That’s why I believe you can’t pursue this career just for a paycheck; you truly have to love the craft. Without that passion, it’s difficult to sustain the energy and commitment needed in this industry. However, the moment you see your project come to life on the big screen, all the hard work feels completely worth it. It’s an incomparable feeling that fuels the drive to keep going.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As an Assistant Director, my job is to ensure a film or TV production runs smoothly and efficiently. I specialize in coordinating large-scale shoots, managing tight schedules, and keeping communication clear between departments. My role is all about problem-solving—anticipating challenges before they arise and making sure every element of production stays on track. Whether it’s organizing complex action sequences, working with talent, or adapting to last-minute script changes, I thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
I’m incredibly proud of all the projects I’ve been part of, each for different reasons. Dune: Part Two was a standout experience—not only because of its scale and ambition but also because seeing it earn Academy Award nominations was a testament to the hard work of everyone involved. Working on Dune: Prophecy allowed me to help expand an iconic universe, while Moon Knight introduced me to the world of Marvel, with its intense action sequences and unique storytelling. FBI: International gave me the chance to work on a fast-moving TV production, which required a different kind of adaptability and efficiency.
What sets me apart is my work ethic—I’m a workaholic in the best way possible. I give 110% to every project I take on because I truly love what I do. I approach every set with passion, determination, and a relentless drive to make things run as smoothly as possible. I’m ambitious and always looking for ways to improve, push boundaries, and take on new challenges. Filmmaking is full of obstacles, but I thrive on solving problems and making sure that, no matter what, the production moves forward successfully. At the end of the day, I put my whole heart into this job, and that’s what keeps me going.

How do you think about luck?
I wouldn’t say luck played a major role in getting me where I am today—it was all about hard work, persistence, and dedication. I never made excuses; I just kept pushing forward. There were times when I worked 20 days straight without a break, spending 16-hour days on set and running on only 3-4 hours of sleep. The results I’ve achieved in my career weren’t a matter of chance but a testament to the effort I put in every single day. That being said, if I were to acknowledge any luck, it would be having a supportive family. Their encouragement gave me the strength to keep going, but every opportunity I earned was the result of my commitment, not luck. In this industry, talent and connections can open doors, but only relentless hard work keeps them open.
