Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariya Sivyakova

Hi Mariya, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi! My name is Mari. I’m a stylist and costume designer from Ukraine. I’ve been living and working in Los Angeles for over two years now, but I grew up in a small Ukrainian town. I’ve been working as a stylist for more than 10 years, and living in Los Angeles has always been my dream. In Ukraine, I collaborated with some of the top artists, so moving here was always one of my priorities. I knew I was capable of more.

Almost three years ago, however, war came to my country, and I became a refugee. I moved to Los Angeles with my child and husband and had to rebuild my career from scratch. Today, I can proudly say that I’ve worked with artists like James Blake, Barbara Palvin, and Sevdaliza, as well as brands like Spotify, Adidas, La Mer, and others.

I love Los Angeles with all my heart and truly feel it is my place of power.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey has been very challenging because, in 2022, war came to my country. As a young mother, I had to become a refugee and try to build a new life in Europe to keep my child safe. I went to Berlin and started over there, but after some time, I realized that I still wanted to chase the dream of my life—to live in Los Angeles. And now, here I am.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a wardrobe stylist having worked all over the world as a fashion and celebrity stylist. Currently, I represented as a stylist by Walter Schupfer Management where I doing commercial, editorials, celebrity styling etc. Previously, I worked and live in Ukraine and Europe. I specialize in working in the fashion industry as well as on music videos for artists. I have 10 years of global experience. During my long career in the fashion industry, I have had the opportunity to work with top models, artists, and celebrities such as James Blake, Barbara Palvin, Sevdaliza, Jodie Turner-Smith, Karen Fukuhara and others. I have worked on projects and campaigns for some of the most famous brands in the industry such as Nike, La mer, Spotify, Vans, Walmart, REM, Lululemon and etc.

My strength lies in my ability to seamlessly blend commerce and underground aesthetics. This is exactly what my clients value me for.
