Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Jordan
Hi Robin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I got started making TikToks videos after a serving shift one day. I thought it would be funny and relatable to make a video of what servers wished they could say to guests. The TikTok blew up so I continued to make more videos surrounding the restaurant industry.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
So far it has been a pleasure to be content creator. Of course being a content creator comes with its struggles. Because my videos are restaurant related, I shoot most of my TikToks at the restaurant where I work. Because I have to be off of the clock when I record, I have to shoot AFTER a long shift. Most times I work the night shift so by the time I am able to shoot, it can be anywhere from 2:00-3:00 am.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am actress and content creator. For acting, I do film and TV! As far as content creation, I mainly post to TikTok. My videos surround the restaurant industry. I am known for making comedic TikToks about being a server, host or bartender. Because there are almost 750,000 restaurants in the USA and about 23 million restaurants in the world, there is big community surrounding the restaurant industry. I am proud to be a voice for restaurant staff by making relatable yet funny content. I think what sets me apart from others is that my content is respectful – I not only speak to the restaurant community but I also like to educate guests on dining decorum.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Taking risks are scary especially when it comes to social media. You can be cancelled whether you said or did something intentionally, or not. When doing content creation, I try to be careful not offend anyone. However, I took a big risk when I made a TikTok on race’s stereotypes while dining out. Because cultures are all so different, stereotypes can be very apparent when working in a restaurant. It was risky posting content about race/stereotypes because race can be a touchy and sensitive topic – I kept the video light, fun and I did not mock anyone by doing accents. Before pressing post, I was so nervous but it ended up being one of my most viewed TikToks with over 10 millions views.
