Today we’d like to introduce you to Maryam Ardalan
Hi Maryam, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey in the legal field is a testament to the power of perseverance, continuous learning, and seizing opportunities. Like many young adults, I found myself at a crossroads after high school. Despite initially enrolling in college, financial realities led me to make the difficult decision to drop out and enter the workforce full-time in retail to support myself.
What seemed like a setback at the time ultimately led to an unexpected opportunity that would shape my entire career. I secured a position as a receptionist at Ardalan & Associates, a personal injury law firm. This role would become the foundation of my two-decade journey in the legal field.
From my first day answering phones and filing papers, I demonstrated a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn that caught the attention of my supervisors. My responsibilities gradually expanded as I moved from reception to becoming a legal assistant, then took on the role of bookkeeper, and eventually advanced to office manager. Each position taught me valuable lessons about law firm operations, client relations, and the intricacies of personal injury cases.
Working alongside attorneys and legal professionals who had completed their education served as a powerful motivation. Despite the challenges of working full-time, I made the decision to return to college. Seven years into my tenure at Ardalan & Associates, I proudly earned my bachelor’s degree – but I wasn’t done yet.
Inspired by the attorneys I worked with and armed with a deep understanding of personal injury law from my various roles, I set my sights on becoming an attorney myself. While continuing to work full-time, I prepared for the LSAT and applied to law schools in the Los Angeles area. My dedication paid off when I was accepted to Loyola Law School, a moment of immense pride and gratitude.
During my time in law school, I got married to P. Christopher Ardalan, the founder of Ardalan & Associates and a highly decorated trial lawyer. The next three years tested my resilience as I balanced full-time work with law school studies. In 2015, after successfully completing law school, I passed the California Bar Exam. Following my admission to the bar, I became an attorney at Ardalan & Associates while also starting a family, welcoming two children into our lives.
My unique perspective, having worked in virtually every position at the firm, proved invaluable in my practice of law. At Ardalan & Associates, we focused intensively on trial and litigation. I had the privilege of witnessing over 50 of Chris’s trial closings, learning firsthand from one of the best trial lawyers in the field. This experience taught me the critical importance of thorough preparation from day one of a case – crossing every T and dotting every i to effectively disarm the defense before litigation and trial begin.
My journey led me to become the managing partner at Ardalan & Associates, but in 2024, I embarked on a new chapter by founding Swift Justice, Inc. The name embodies my philosophy: handling cases with strategy and thoughtfulness while ensuring efficient resolution. My goal is to deliver justice swiftly and effectively for my clients, recognizing that time is often not on the plaintiff’s side in personal injury cases.
What makes our approach unique is the seamless collaboration between Swift Justice and Ardalan & Associates. While not every case requires litigation and trial, when a case warrants that level of advocacy, I can transition it to Ardalan & Associates for litigation handling at no additional cost to my clients. This arrangement allows me to focus on swift, maximum-value resolutions in prelitigation while ensuring my clients have access to excellent trial representation when needed.
Beyond my legal practice, I’ve expanded into consulting through Ecasa Education, where I help other personal injury firms optimize their processes, procedures, and office functions. My experience in every law office role gives me a unique perspective that proves invaluable to law firms seeking to improve their efficiency and effectiveness.
Together with my husband, we’ve also ventured into the events industry with Ecasa Events, a comprehensive events company offering venues for weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, and other special occasions. Complete with an executive chef providing customized menus and expert event planning services, this business reflects my belief that life’s precious moments should be celebrated and remembered. As I often say, these are the memories we’ll cherish on our deathbeds.
Today, with over twenty years of experience in personal injury law, I look back on my journey from receptionist to managing partner to firm owner with pride. My path demonstrates that with determination, hard work, and a willingness to seize opportunities, one can overcome initial setbacks and achieve their professional dreams while building a fulfilling personal life. This experience has given me a unique appreciation for every role within a law firm and has shaped my approach to leadership, emphasizing the importance of professional growth and development for all team members.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life’s journey has certainly had its challenges. As an Iranian immigrant who fled the war in 1987, I arrived in the US with my parents and younger brother. My father often recounted how we got here through multiple train and bus rides, arriving with just $20 in his pocket. My parents, barely in their twenties, made this brave move to provide better opportunities for their children.
Starting in ESL classes, I quickly adapted and developed a love for school, particularly helping teachers with administrative tasks. My natural inclination to speak up for others and address injustice emerged early on. At 17, my parents’ divorce added another layer of complexity to our immigrant experience, especially with no extended family in the US. However, I was fortunate to build strong friendships that became my chosen family.
Independence came early – I purchased my first car at 18 and moved out at 19. Despite facing numerous challenges that could have derailed my path, I chose to persist. I recognized that my success depended primarily on my own efforts. Rather than relying on luck, I committed fully to my education and work, consistently giving 110%. I learned that self-advocacy was crucial – while support from others was valuable, I needed to be my own strongest advocate.
Today, many who know my story find it inspiring. I believe anyone can overcome similar challenges if they choose to show up for themselves rather than waiting for miracles. Success comes from taking control of your own destiny and putting in the work to make it happen.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I find deep fulfillment in using my abilities to help others flourish. The most rewarding moments come from providing meaningful assistance, whether that’s offering valuable perspective, sharing knowledge, extending friendship, or ensuring someone receives fair financial treatment. I’m particularly passionate about advocating for those facing challenging situations with insurance companies – stepping in when people aren’t aware of their rights and helping them achieve fair outcomes. There’s a special joy in knowing my expertise and willingness to stand up for others has made a tangible difference in their lives, especially when they might otherwise have been taken advantage of.
Through my events company, I get to be part of people’s most treasured celebrations and milestones. Creating unforgettable experiences that become lifelong memories brings me immense satisfaction. Whether it’s a wedding, anniversary, or special celebration, knowing that I’ve helped craft moments that people will cherish forever fills me with joy.
Above all, being a parent brings me the greatest happiness. Finding that sweet spot of balance between my professional passions and quality time with my children gives me a sense of completeness and contentment in life.
