Daily Inspiration: Meet Faith Abrea

Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Abrea

Hi Faith, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi my name is Faith Abrea I am 24 years old and originally from Chicago but moved to Los Angeles in 2019. I was not always a jewelry designer and stone collector. I was actually heavy into basketball majority or my life up in age 19. I was always into creating and arts growing up though. Art and physics was actually my favorite subjects in school growing up so it makes sense why my career is in a similar field. Later on in my life is when I got really interested in crystals and gemstones. I created my brand Faith In Crystals in 2020 when my passion became deeper into this subject matter. What makes me love crystals is there are millions out there and new ones that are being discovered every year. They are from the Earth and was here even before human existence. The first crystal “Zircon” was discovered 4.4 billion years ago.The geology, history, and healing properties of stones is what makes it stand out from other products.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been the smoothest road haha. Actually I remember when I first launched my website and put it out there to the public. I had a few of my friends and family order from me but outside of that for the first two months of business I was not receiving any sales. I was very discouraged in fact I called my mom to express this to her and I almost gave up… which I’m glad I didn’t. I eventually knew I had to figure out a way to put my brand out there to the world if I want to have longevity. I began attending pop ups, farmers markets, and festivals in 2021-Current all over Southern California…this is when I began to see the sales come in and also I would meet so many different people from all walks of life along the way. This allowed me to showcase my jewelry and educate those on gemstones who were interested. I have put together two jewelry making workshops for kids so far since starting my brand and also have been apart of other organizations to supply this service (TDE 11th Annual Toy Drive + Community Giveback,I Am Not A Movement Back to School Event,LA County Department Of Parks & Recreation Back To School Resource Fair”). This added more of a service to my brand and not just products. Even now I am still putting all the pieces together but I have definitely grown tremendously since I first began in November 2020.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I was originally known as being a YouTuber starting that in the summer of 2017 when I was only 16 years old. I would react to music with my parents to get a reaction from them. I gained over 23,000 subscribers and still counting. I also would drop music from time to time. Later on when I moved to California at 18 years old after high school I started attending college at Pasadena City College and I knew I couldn’t do the mom and dad reacts because I no longer lived in Illinois and had to start making content on my own. I began doing reaction videos by myself and eventually wanted to add more to my YouTube Channel so I started doing different content outside of just music. In 2022 is the year I did my first interview on my channel with a music group called “Crucial Conflict’ who are very known in the Chicagoland area. This is when I began to gain a passion for being an interviewer. I now interview artists while still doing reaction videos and other content as well. I also model from a local brand in Los Angeles call “Magazine Fresh” right in Leimert Park. As I stated earlier also I would make music from time to time so that is something also that I am passionate about and have been taking more serious. Music is therapy for me it is an outlet of expression and has been in my life forever so I am happy that I am starting to take it more serious. I’m actually in a music program now call “The Nest Society” in which we record music, meet with people who are in the music industry, and also giveback to the community. I am also apart of a nonprofit called “WE Grow LA” in which we give groceries every Friday @11AM at Slauson Swap Meet to the community. I think what sets me apart from others is I DON’T BOX MYSELF IN. I have many talents and I don’t just stick to one I explore all of my God given gifts. I think we are taught in society that you can’t be a jack of all trades but I disagree. I do believe you should practice and eventually master your crafts but that happens over time. It starts with putting it out there and you will continue to grow and evolve in your craft especially if it is something that you are passionate about!

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is being able to wake up doing something you are passionate about and feel fulfillment in everyday. It is creating and/or being apart of something that you always wanted to do and are doing. Success is also financial freedom in however way that looks for you. Success is inspiring others and leaving an impact on those around you.
