Today we’d like to introduce you to Salma Nasrollah
Hi Salma, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In 2020, I moved from Morocco to a new country during the pandemic. By late 2021, I decided to take my career as a Hair and Makeup Artist to the next level. In 2022, I got pregnant and gave birth in September 2022 and returned to taking clients just two months later, balancing motherhood while building my business.
2023 was a breakthrough year with international magazine publications and collaborations with celebrities, actors, and major brands. In 2024, my work reached incredible milestones—I was featured on a New York billboard, published in Vogue, and worked on campaigns, fashion shows, and video productions.
I’m incredibly grateful for my amazing partner, who supported my dreams and believed in me even when I didn’t. My dear mom and sisters, despite being far away, were my biggest cheerleaders from a distance. I’ve also been fortunate to build a supportive community, connect with wonderful vendors, and make lifelong friends along the way.
My journey is one of resilience, passion, and proving that with hard work, determination, and love, anything is possible.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest challenges I faced was putting my name out there and gaining clients. To overcome this, I invested in myself by taking classes and refining my craft. My first major step was doing TFP shoots, and my very first collaboration was with Miss World USA 2020 and the amazing photographer Velvet Vibes. That shoot opened doors, and soon after, people started reaching out to me. I kept growing my followers, and the rest is history. Through persistence, passion, and hard work, I was able to overcome those obstacles and build the career I have today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
With over 10 years of experience in the makeup and hair industry, I am a self-taught artist whose passion turned professional at just 14, when I won a makeup giveaway and took my first course. From there, I quickly started working with clients, landing magazine shoots, and gaining experience on TV sets—thanks to my background as an actress and model.
After moving to the U.S., I embraced the challenges of transitioning to a new country and honed my craft further by taking courses with top Bay Area artists I truly admire. I’m committed to continuous learning, always striving to be the best version of myself while delivering exceptional results for my clients.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
My crisis taught me the power of resilience, self-belief, and faith. Moving to a new country, balancing motherhood, and building my business was tough, but God’s guidance and my strong faith opened doors to incredible opportunities. I learned to embrace every challenge as a chance to grow, connect, and push forward. With each setback, I became stronger, and my faith continues to shape my success.
