Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonny Beaulieu
Hi Jonny, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up with a business minded father and a mother who was a concert pianist shaped me from birth. My entire upbringing I was surrounded by such profound musical influences and always had music at its center and worldwide success since the 1950’s. As I was going through this life and upbringing my friends and family to almost every extent have been in music. This ranges from behind the scenes to success in the highest levels. From my own successful business career to late nights in the studios I knew this was always my calling.
After losing my cousin Ben (practically brother) to suicide in 2020 and then his mother in 2022; I decided I needed to take mental health seriously.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When I launched BAM Artists, I wanted to create an inclusive and mindful space within the industry that actually prioritizes mental health. That isn’t easy to do in an industry that can leave you hung out to dry. I have personally witnessed the struggles faced by many creatives. Losing Ben and then going through my own life-changing journey with sobriety, I felt at my lowest low at times. But through the struggle, there became a newfound hope for once. Mental health should be a priority for all and that comes in many different forms. With that mindset, I aim to honor Ben’s memory and the shared love of music we had through my work with BAM Artists. By championing artists who embody authenticity and creativity, we can get the music landscape back to its roots, one that celebrates true artistry yet continues to push forward by supporting the well-being of its artists.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
BAM Artists is a music artist management group and collective of creatives with a truly authentic sound and a story to tell. We’re not just chasing hits, or creating social media influencers here; we’re telling stories with some bad a*s artists that have real and raw talent. We also only partner with like-minded artists, those that also advocate for mental health. For example, our first signed artist, Rachel Ruzumna, is as dedicated to her sobriety as she is to her music career. I personally think that this approach has made her a stronger artist and songwriter at the end of the day (…and we’re so excited to share the proof soon with the upcoming launch of her debut album in 2025! Stay tuned!)”
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I wouldn’t have launched BAM Artists or had the life I had without risks; good and bad. I feel that seeing firsthand some of the highest levels of success in music and where they came from and how they made it showed me early on that you need talent, hard work, a little bit of luck and take a risk. The age old saying “the higher the risk, the higher the reward” always comes to mind here. That being said, you can mitigate risk by having good plans and a solid team that has your back. I have learned early on that some risks just are not worth the squeeze, but through this it has made me who I am. Still a risk taker, but more calculated risks these days.
