Inspiring Conversations with Alexa Serafin of Serafinskin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexa Serafin

Hi Alexa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I had just graduated high school, and didn’t feel passionate about anything in life other than I knew I liked to help others feel good. I was always interested in the beauty industry so I decided to enroll myself in esthetician school which is where I discovered my passion for skin. I remember vividly, giving a facial to a teenage boy while I was in esthetician school. He had inflamed acne and I spent about a half hour extracting his blackheads. That’s when I knew that this is exactly what I wanted to do with my life. To help someone build their confidence and help heal insecurities through skincare is something that I didn’t expect myself to do, but I felt called to it. For 7 years I worked for spas and built my clientele and learned from other amazing estheticians. Recently, I started my own business, Serafinskin. I work for myself and have successfully built my books. I provide a safe space for my clients, and focus mainly on corrective skincare like acne treatments, and pro-aging facials. Not only am I healing the skin, but I am also healing my clients confidence and the way that they view themselves.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This road has not been smooth at all. Becoming a successful esthetician takes a lot of hard work, consistency, and knowledge. Usually, people will graduate beauty school and think “okay great, I graduated and now I will be successful!” Definitely not the case in this industry. I sacrificed a lot of time in my early 20s for my career. I missed out on parties, it affected relationships, and I had to really discipline myself to achieve my success. On my free time, I took advanced skin courses to further my knowledge, and had to work my butt off to gain clientele. Without my clients I wouldn’t have my business today.

As you know, we’re big fans of Serafinskin. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My business is called Serafinskin. I knew I wanted to incorporate my name into my business because it is who I am. I pour so much of myself into my business and I am proud of it. I specialize in result-driven skincare while also providing the most relaxing experience you’ve ever had. I love providing my clients with results and giving them a space to recharge from their day to day life. I believe what sets me apart from others in the industry is how much I empathize with my clients. People want to be heard and recognized. They don’t want to be just another face on your table. I listen to my clients, I want to heal them, and they can feel that. I’m so proud of the brand I built because of the hard work that I have put into it. For years I put myself in different work places, and situations trying to discover who I am as an esthetician and what my niche is. I am proud to say that I specialize in healing acne and building the self-love that my clients have with themselves. My facials are targeted but also therapeutic. SerafinSkin is your safe place for yourself and your skin.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is doing what I love every day. I am so grateful that I can make others feel good, while also making a career for myself. I talk to amazing people all day and give them the love that they deserve. Apart from my business, intimate things in life truly make me happy. Whether it’s spending time with my family, going to the beach with a book and snacks, or even just being with myself in the home that I built for myself. I’ve learned to find happiness in what I already have and in nature. I don’t need fancy cars and material items. There’s so much greatness that is already naturally surrounding us.
