Today we’d like to introduce you to Paulina Sanchez
Hi Paulina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am Paulina Sanchez, a self-taught abstract artist based in Los Angeles who transformed my life by choosing to follow my passion. From a young age, I was drawn to art, expressing myself through various mediums. However, after facing discouragement, I set aside my creative hobbies for many years. As an adult, I found myself unfulfilled in the corporate world. It was during this challenging time that I rediscovered my love for art, realizing that creating was my true passion. Art became my therapy, providing me with peace and fulfillment. This awakening led me to make the bold decision to pursue art and eventually be able to make a living creating art full-time.
My journey has been one of profound self-discovery, culminating in a body of work that resonates with deep emotion. Today, I am proud to serve as the in-house artist for the esteemed Meridith Baer Home, a national interior design firm where my art plays a pivotal role in transforming luxurious spaces. In addition, I manage my own brand, PS Abstract Gallery, where I connect with clients who share a love for art.
My artistic journey has taken me to exhibit at Agora Gallery in New York City in 2022. The following year, I achieved a dream milestone by showcasing my work at the prestigious Carrousel du Louvre in Paris during the International Art Fair. These experiences have reaffirmed my belief in the power of perseverance and the importance of staying true to one’s passion.
I’ve learned that true fulfillment comes when we listen to our inner voice and courageously pursue what ignites our spirit. I hope my journey encourages others to follow their dreams, trust themselves, and recognize the immense potential within. It’s never too late to embrace change and create a life that resonates with who you truly are.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has definitely not been smooth, especially in the beginning. I struggled with self-doubt and often questioned whether I was on the right path. I realized that I needed to shift my mindset and focus on my growth as an artist. Initially, galleries weren’t interested in showcasing my work, which motivated me to refine my craft and establish a stronger presence. As I worked on myself, opportunities began to arise, and my breakthrough came when I exhibited in New York, which caught the attention of other galleries. Each year, I gained more clients and built my clientele. I took on an executive assistant position at Meridith Baer Home that provided me with financial support while I navigated the transition to making a full-time living as an artist. I eventually started selling my art to the interior design firm, which lead to becoming the in-house artist for the company.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As an abstract artist, I specialize in expressionism, exploring emotions and ideas often drawn from my life experiences. My work is an extension of myself and I strive for each piece I create to resonate with its audience, forging a unique connection that only art can provide.
One of my proudest achievements was exhibiting at the Louvre during the 2023 International Art Fair, represented by Artio Gallery. It was an incredible honor to showcase my work on such a prestigious platform and connect with a global audience.
What sets me apart is my versatility. I don’t limit myself to one particular style of abstract art. My creations vary depending on the mood I’m in or the project I’m working on. This adaptability allows me to tailor my work to different environments and narratives while still expressing my authentic vision.
What are your plans for the future?
My primary focus is on growing my art brand and expanding its reach both locally and internationally. I aim to exhibit more abroad, which will allow me to connect with diverse audiences and share my work with people from various cultures and perspectives. This includes participating in prestigious art fairs, collaborating with galleries around the world, and establishing partnerships that align with my artistic vision.
I also hope to build a stronger online presence, create opportunities and reach more people. Ultimately, my goal is to inspire and connect with as many people as possible through my art while continually evolving as an artist and business owner.
