Check Out Myesha Chaney’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Myesha Chaney

Hi Myesha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in the vibrant yet challenging environment of Long Beach, California, I was just a kid with big dreams. As one of four siblings, my childhood was a delicate blend of adventure, fun, and fear. My parents instilled in us the values of hard work and perseverance, which fueled my aspirations from a young age.

In school, I immersed myself in sports and performing arts, finding joy and expression in both. These activities not only shaped my character but also provided a much-needed outlet in the bustling inner city life. I learned the importance of teamwork and creativity, skills that would serve me well in the years to come.

After graduating high school, I pursued my dream of becoming a registered nurse. Balancing work and studies was no easy feat, but my determination paid off. Nursing became not just a career but a calling, allowing me to care for others and make a tangible difference in their lives.

At 20, I took a leap into marriage, starting a family that would eventually grow to include three wonderful children. Motherhood was a whirlwind of joy, challenges, and learning. I embraced every moment, cherishing the laughter and love that filled our home.

As I navigated the complexities of life, I found myself drawn to the world of media and entrepreneurship. I appeared on reality television, which opened doors I had never imagined. Hosting a talk radio show allowed me to connect with diverse voices and share stories that mattered. My entrepreneurial spirit ignited, leading me to launch several ventures that reflected my passions and creativity.

I also took up writing, penning my experiences and insights in a book that resonated with many. The creative outlet was liberating, allowing me to explore my identity beyond the roles of mother and nurse. Singing became another avenue for expression, infusing my life with joy and connection.

However, life took an unexpected turn after 18 years of marriage. My very public divorce was a challenging chapter, one that tested my resilience and strength. It was a time of reflection and reinvention, forcing me to confront my identity and purpose anew. Though the experience was painful, it also became a catalyst for growth, pushing me to embrace my independence and pursue my dreams more fiercely.

Today, I continue to juggle my roles as a mother, entrepreneur, author, and creative. Each day is a testament to the journey I’ve traveled—from the inner streets of Long Beach to the broader horizons of my life’s work. I remain committed to uplifting others, using my story as a source of inspiration for those who face challenges of their own.

My journey is far from over. With every step, I strive to create a legacy of resilience, passion, and hope for my children and everyone I encounter along the way.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Going through a divorce at 40 is a profound life transition, one that turned my world upside down and led me on a journey of self-discovery and reinvention. As I navigated the emotional rollercoaster of ending a long-term relationship, I found myself facing challenges that tested my resilience and courage.

The initial phase of my divorce was marked by a whirlwind of emotions—grief, loss, and a deep sense of uncertainty. After dedicating nearly two decades to a marriage, the decision to part ways felt like a heavy weight. I struggled with feelings of failure, questioning my worth and what I had done wrong. It was not just the end of a relationship; it felt like the loss of dreams and a shared future, leaving me to mourn not only what was but what could have been.

As I transitioned from being part of a couple to embracing single life, I realized how deeply intertwined my identity had become with my partner. I had established routines, a career, and a family life that revolved around our shared goals. The disruption was jarring. Managing a household alone, balancing work and parenting, and navigating the legal complexities of divorce felt overwhelming at times.

Yet, amidst this chaos, I began to see a flicker of opportunity. The journey of self-discovery that lay ahead was both daunting and liberating. I had to confront the question: Who am I, really? This was my chance to explore passions and interests that I had set aside while focused on my family and marriage. I took up hobbies, pursued education, and even considered changing my career path, all in an effort to reconnect with the person I had lost sight of.

Building a support system became crucial during this time. Friends and family stepped in to provide a listening ear and encouragement, reminding me that I was not alone in this journey. I sought out support groups, connecting with others who were experiencing similar challenges. Sharing stories and insights with people on parallel paths fostered a sense of community and understanding that was invaluable.

One of the greatest gifts of this experience has been the opportunity to embrace new beginnings. With each step forward, I began to reclaim my independence and confidence. What once felt like an ending transformed into a vibrant new chapter filled with possibilities. I discovered the freedom to set goals that resonated with my passions—whether it was pursuing my love for writing, exploring new ways to help and heal others, or even considering new relationships.

While the challenges of divorce were significant, they also became catalysts for growth and transformation. I learned to trust my instincts and embrace the unknown. This journey, though not easy, has been a testament to my resilience and strength.

Today, as I reflect on my experiences, I see how far I’ve come. The path may have been rocky, but it has led me to a life that feels more authentic and true to who I am. Reinventing myself at 40 has been an empowering journey, reminding me that even in the face of adversity, there is always a chance to rise, rebuild, and thrive.
