Check Out Glenn Bolton’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Glenn Bolton

Hi Glenn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story as a music producer started with a computer class that I failed twice in community college. Even though I never passed my final exam, I realized how much I liked making music with a computer. Fast forward like 10 years to 2017, I started messing around with GarageBand on my iPhone 6 Plus and reignited my love for creating music. My first full song was a comedic (and explicit) hip hop song about being vegan which I released under the name G Rillah. Over the next few years, I’d become more proficient with the mobile app, but in 2020 I’d purchase my first Mac and that’s when I got more serious. Today, my music has been in multiple TV shows as well as other upcoming projects.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all. Especially financially. Also in the time where I thought the only route to go as a music producer was the “Type Beats” route selling low ticket items. Nothing against that, but I think Sync is more my speed. It does come with its fair share of challenges though. Learning the format, constantly updating your sounds and a bunch of other technical things.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Music Producer, Songwriter, Voice Actor and Comedian. I specialize in combining those skills. I’d say the thing I’m most known for is my comedic music (which is self-produced), but the thing I’m most proud of is the upcoming film “The Weird Kidz”(From the executive producer of “Rick and Morty”. I do the voice of Mel. The thing that sets me apart from others is my ability to switch hats. This makes me an asset to pretty much any creative environment.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Yes. Find someone who’s already succeeded in the next steps you’re looking to make. Under a that if you’ve been invited into a room, you’re good enough to be there. Don’t let impostor syndrome kill your momentum. The thing that has worked best for me is building solid relationships with people who have similar interests and goals.
