Today we’d like to introduce you to Tania Roa
Hi Tania, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up near Los Angeles, California, on the unceded land of the Tongva people. My parents, Claudia and Henry, immigrated from Bogotá, Colombia, to California, where they instilled in me a deep appreciation for service, community, and the beauty of altruism. This foundation inspired me to explore climate justice during my time at Tufts University, where I earned a Master of Science in Animals and Public Policy. Since then, I have actively sought every opportunity to expand my advocacy for environmental and social justice.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I am continually learning and unlearning. As I deepen my understanding of the systems that created the climate crisis—and the social inequalities it exacerbates, such as wage gaps, unfair working conditions, and pollution—I often question whether I am doing enough. Yet, I remind myself that the Earth naturally seeks balance, so I allow myself to rest when struggles arise, to pause, and to embrace the rhythms of each season. Every season has its purpose, and as long as I remain focused on contributing to a regenerative future, I know I am on the right path.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a published writer, speaker, micro content creator, educator, facilitator, outdoor enthusiast, photographer, and advocate. In every role, I emphasize the interconnectedness of human and planetary health. I highlight our relationship with other species and the Earth as a whole, while emphasizing the many solutions people are already implementing to address the climate crisis.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
My story is one of many. In the climate justice movement, we work together because we know the systems, institutions, and governments maintaining the status quo won’t change without public pressure. We’re work together with the understanding that everyone has unique talents, skills, and networks they can leverage to strengthen this movement. If you aren’t already taking climate action, I hope you consider joining us. We need you.
