Check Out Haoyu Li’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Haoyu Li

Hi Haoyu, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
From a young age, I’ve been deeply passionate about art and design. This enthusiasm led me to pursue an education in architecture at RISD, where I could merge my creative interests with the technical aspects of space and form. What excites me most about architecture is the opportunity to create spaces that foster human experiences and connections. Over time, my curiosity expanded to include visual design and immersive experiences—fields that complement my architectural background and offer new ways to engage with storytelling through interactive and sensory environments. I find immense joy in exploring these dynamic fields, as they allow me to break away from conventional boundaries and push the limits of design to create meaningful, transformative experiences.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been moments when I felt uncertain about my career path, unsure of which direction to take. However, I came to realize that the key is to focus on the aspects of design that truly inspire me and bring me joy. Embracing this approach has allowed me to navigate my career with more confidence. By staying connected to my passion and actively seeking opportunities for growth and learning, I feel better equipped to tackle challenges and make meaningful contributions to the creative field.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My background in architecture has shaped the way I approach design and visualization. While I initially focused on architecture, I now specialize in architectural visualization, helping architects and design firms bring their project ideas to life through compelling visual graphics. My work ranges from detailed renderings to animations that help clients and stakeholders better understand and refine design concepts. This blend of technical expertise and visual storytelling allows me to support architects in developing their projects and conveying their vision more effectively.

In addition to architectural visualization, I also work on visual design and immersive experience projects independently. These side ventures allow me to experiment with interactive environments and spatial storytelling, exploring how digital media and technology can enhance the architectural experience. What sets me apart is my ability to combine my architectural training with a passion for visual design, creating visuals that are not only aesthetically engaging but also conceptual and meaningful.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is the value of staying true to what truly excites and inspires me. While my path in architecture has evolved over time, I’ve realized that exploring different creative fields—whether it’s architectural visualization, visual design, or immersive experiences—has been essential for both personal growth and professional development. It’s easy to get caught up in external expectations or traditional career paths, but I’ve found that the most fulfilling work comes from pursuing what genuinely sparks my passion.
