Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Zadro.
Liz, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Almost thirty-five years ago, an immigrant from Croatia had an idea for how to make a man’s experience shaving superior. Shaving in the shower is recommended by Dermatologist because the hot water and steam allows your hair and skin to soften, allowing for a closer and smoother shave. The only problem is, you need to see what you’re doing with a razor and all mirrors fog in the shower. The Fogless Mirror was born. Zlatko Zadro created the first fogless mirror and started a world market category. As a Made in USA item, the item was soon patented and flying off the shelves. Decades later he now holds over fifty patents and has developed the largest Fogless Mirror category in the country. The line has since expanded and includes a variety of makeup and beauty mirror and accessories that can be found at most major retailers here in the USA. We still manufacture about 40% of our products here in the USA and Mr. Zadro is still very closely involved with the product design and development.
Has it been a smooth road?
Manufacturing in the USA as well as doing business in California always has its hurdles. In addition to that, we have weathered a few recessions that have caused us to really look at what we are doing and assess how our core competencies align with the markets needs. It’s exciting to see that our unique manufacturing ability has allowed us to respond quickly to market trends and our ability to design and develop products fast has really bolstered our US workforce. Just this past year we have grown our USA team by 30% and brought in various aspects of automation to our manufacturing and shipping.
