Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Moshe Lewis Md
Hi Dr. Moshe, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The Music and Medicine Show was born out of a shared vision between Kathleen Bradley, a legendary entertainer, and Dr. Moshe Lewis, a seasoned physician, to merge two seemingly different worlds—music and health. The show began as a platform to explore the intersection of creativity and well-being, offering candid conversations with artists, health experts, and inspiring individuals about their journeys, challenges, and triumphs.
Kathleen brought her unparalleled experience in the entertainment industry, having made history as the first African-American model on The Price Is Right and a celebrated actress and singer. Her ability to connect with guests and audiences alike has been instrumental in setting the warm, engaging tone of the show.
Dr. Moshe Lewis, a specialist in pain management and a passionate advocate for holistic health, infused the show with his medical expertise and a genuine curiosity about the human experience. Together, they’ve built a space where guests feel comfortable sharing their personal stories, struggles, and victories, whether related to their careers, health, or life journeys.
Over four successful seasons, the show has welcomed a wide array of guests, from music legends to health innovators, diving deep into topics like mental health, chronic pain, the demands of the entertainment industry, and the power of resilience. Each episode strikes a balance between entertainment and education, making complex health topics accessible and relatable while celebrating the transformative power of music.
Now preparing for its fifth season, The Music and Medicine Show continues to evolve, with plans for even more captivating guests, untold stories, and insights that inspire and empower its growing audience. It remains a testament to how creativity and compassion can bridge gaps, creating meaningful conversations that resonate far beyond the screen.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey of The Music and Medicine Show has been anything but smooth, but it’s those very challenges that have shaped its authenticity and success. From the start, merging two distinct worlds—entertainment and health—posed a creative challenge. We had to find the right tone and format that would engage audiences while staying true to the show’s mission of education and inspiration.
Logistically, balancing busy schedules was tough. Kathleen’s commitments as a renowned performer and Dr. Moshe’s demanding medical practice required meticulous planning to coordinate interviews and production schedules. Add to that the need to attract high-profile guests while ensuring meaningful conversations—it wasn’t always easy.
Technical and production hurdles were another challenge, especially during the early seasons. From budget constraints to navigating the shift to virtual interviews during the pandemic, the team had to adapt quickly to ensure the quality and continuity of the show.
Perhaps the most significant struggle has been addressing deeply personal topics. Many guests share vulnerable stories about their health, careers, and personal lives. Creating a safe space for those conversations, while ensuring they resonate with viewers, has required empathy, trust, and care.
Despite the obstacles, each challenge has been a lesson. The show’s success is a testament to the power of perseverance, a passionate team, and a commitment to creating something that truly matters. Every roadblock has strengthened the show, and each season represents a new milestone in its journey.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Our work with The Music and Medicine Show is a unique blend of entertainment and education. At its core, the show bridges the worlds of music and healthcare, creating a space where creativity and wellness intersect. Kathleen Bradley, known for her iconic role in The Price is Right and as “Mrs. Parker” in the movie Friday, brings her deep understanding of the performing arts, while Dr. Moshe Lewis, an accomplished physician and pain management specialist, brings expertise in health and wellness. Together, we create a platform that’s as engaging as it is informative.
We specialize in authentic, meaningful conversations with guests from diverse walks of life—musicians, actors, athletes, and medical professionals—who share their journeys through the ups and downs of their careers, health challenges, and personal growth. These discussions shine a light on important topics like mental health, physical wellness, resilience, and the often-overlooked health issues in the entertainment industry.
What sets us apart is our ability to combine two seemingly different worlds into a cohesive and inspiring narrative. Few platforms dive deep into both the artistry and humanity of individuals, connecting audiences with relatable stories and actionable advice. We also ensure a safe, compassionate space for our guests to open up about sensitive topics.
One of our proudest achievements is the trust we’ve built with our audience and guests alike. The show has become a source of comfort, inspiration, and empowerment for viewers, offering them both entertainment and a sense of connection. The diversity of voices featured and the impact of these stories continue to fuel our passion for this work.
Ultimately, what makes us unique is our commitment to showcasing the healing power of music and the arts, while providing tools and insights to help others lead healthier, more balanced lives. It’s this synergy of purpose and creativity that defines who we are and what we do.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my most cherished childhood memories is the incredible experience of performing at the Metropolitan Opera, thanks to the unwavering support of my adopted parents, Ruby and Leroy Lewis. They nurtured my passion for music and the arts, and for years, they made it possible for me to participate in large-scale stage productions alongside some of the greatest talents in the world.
Sharing the stage with legends like Luciano Pavarotti, Leontyne Price, Beverly Sills, Placido Domingo, Samuel Ramey, Kiri Te Kanawa, James Morris, Tony Randall, Renata Scotto, and under the direction of James Levine, was nothing short of magical. These performances were a blend of artistry and grandeur, where I could witness the transformative power of music and storytelling on such a monumental scale.
Those moments not only shaped my love for the performing arts but also instilled in me a deep appreciation for dedication, excellence, and the beauty of collaboration. It’s an experience I carry with me every day, and it’s a testament to the love and support Ruby and Leroy poured into my life. Their belief in me and their commitment to my growth as an artist remain one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever received.
