Meet Yoav Schverd

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yoav Schverd.

Yoav, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m a private chef. I came to California three years ago with my girlfriend, Tal, who became my wife šŸ™‚ I cook for people in their kitchens, in their house. From cooking to one person, to big events. My biggest was 400 guests. As a private chef, unlike a cater company, I make my food from the best ingredients and usually make all the preparation by myself. Trying to build a menu to each one of my clients, considering limits, needs, or wishes. I love to cook. I love making people happy.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My beginning wasn’t easy. All my experience that I had was all in my homeland – Israel. When I tried to apply for some jobs, no one called me back… once I called one of these offices (private chefs agency) and asked the lady ā€œwhy no one responded to my applications?…ā€ and got the answer ā€œyou have no resumeā€. So I continued and said ā€œbut I did send you my resume. I have been cooking for 15 years, used to own a restaurant, and so…ā€. She answered, ā€œit wasn’t here. It doesn’t countā€. I got it. No worries. I’ll have my way. And I did. Someone saw one of my dishes on my Instagram account, approached me, and that was my first job here. From there, it was easier. Or maybe I was just lucky. Got another client, and another one, and more…

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a private chef. Specializing in healthy-tasty food. I’m influencing by the Mediterranean cuisine, where I come from (Israel). I’m just trying to make people happy. Some of my clients are very known and wealthy people here in Beverly Hills.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I plan to make children’s food look more enticing, more attractive. I want kids to eat healthy and to choose healthy food. By themselves and bot only by the parents.
