Meet Shiver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shiver.

Shiver, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Shiver started a couple of years back, and through a few personnel changes, ended up with our current lineup of Andy Grijalva on drums, Brendan Maclaren and Nico Campbell on guitars, and Justin Blair on vocals. We’ve had the honor of playing a lot of really fun shows around LA at some awesome venues, and recently released an EP of our most recent four singles. Combining fiery guitar licks, luscious 4 part harmonies, and a driving, bombastic rhythmic foundation, Shiver crafts a sonically potent soundscape. With influences ranging from classic rock and roll to modern hard rock, Shiver creates powerfully written numbers with unique instrumentation, putting on a catchy, energetic, yet intricate live show.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been pretty smooth! The four of us are all tight and don’t have too much variance in terms of the direction we want to take songs, shows, etc., so things work relatively smoothly in the group. The only issue is that Brendan cut his hair recently, so we’re all pretty steamed about that…

Tell us about your group. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc.
We’re just four guys having a great time making some music! We’re the same on and off stage. We have four members that all have occupied lead vocal duties at one time or another, so we employ a lot of big four-part vocal harmonies in our recordings and our live show. Our music is chock-full of melodic hooks, aiming to keep our tunes rolling around in the audience’s head after the final chords ring out. Our shows are loud, sweaty, energetic displays – always a fun time.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
There are a lot of aspects of being in a band that doesn’t even involve music, and we try to tackle these as well as we can – marketing, booking, planning, interacting with fans; a lot of work goes on behind the scene before every show or song release.
