Meet Naza Holliman of Sweet P and Sky in The Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Naza Holliman.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Naza. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story begins with my love for adventure, travel, new experiences, style and, of course, my family. My parents have always traveled with me in tow. It was not a vacation unless it was a family vacation. So their love for travel was deeply embedded in me.

When I met my husband, Craig, one of the things that amazed me about him, was how ready and willing he was to jump on board with whatever adventure I would conjure up in my head. What’s more, is he would create fantastic experiences and adventures for the two of us. We explored Los Angeles, we planned bizarre food adventures and took road trips to places like The Salton Sea.

So, as we grew our family, my adventurous hubby and I had to take a different spin on our old shenanigans. With two small kids in tow, we had to adjust our schedules, our plans and our travels, to fit their needs. But that has never stopped us from living a fun and adventurous life.

Here and there, I posted pictures of our experiences on Facebook and Instagram and was contacted by people wondering where we stayed, what recommendations I had for them, whether it was what to eat, where to stay or what to see. Slowly but surely, my inbox got inundates by requests for more details.

It was at that point that I decided that I would start a blog, documenting our adventures, experiences, life as parents, as a married couple and our life in general. This is how Sweet P and Sky was born. Sweet P and Sky, is named after our two boys, Sweet P aka Princeton and Sky aka Skyler. They are the center of our world and we do a lot to keep their world and ours, full of fun new experiences and learning opportunities.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has been slow and steady, with only a few bumps along the way. My biggest challenge and the most fun I had with Sweet P and Sky was creating a space where readers could come to enjoy the blog, and advertisers/collaborators could see reviews, features and ads of their products, seamlessly.

Meaning, I did not want to infringe on the reader experience with over-advertising, yet wanted to give my advertisers the perfect platform to reach their target audience. There were other bumps in the road. The amount of time that it takes to create and consistently put out quality content, as well as growing relationships with collaborators and advertisers is massive. There were times when I wanted to throw in the towel.

Our two kids, my marketing business, Holliman Marketing, and another new venture, SPS Playdates, took all of my time and energy. At the same time, my husband opened the doors to Entourage Executive Protection LLC, his full-service, private security firm. As one can imagine, a business of that caliber took all of his time. But, with my husband’s support, as well as a lot of team effort, Sweet P and Sky has grown and become the beautiful space that it is today.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sweet P and Sky – what should we know?
Sweet P and Sky began as a blog about our family, our style, travels and adventures. It has grown to become so much more in its first year. While remaining focused on our family, we now feature and review some truly amazing places, events and products. We have even ventured out and created a YouTube Channel to accompany the blog.

We have partnered with incredible companies such as Joovy and Chicco, Cavalia, and Disney, to bring our audience honest and detailed reviews of their products and events. We have taken many trips and written reviews, given advice and featured hotels, towns, restaurants, museums and so much more.

I am so proud of all of the lasting relationships we have made with these companies and the people behind them, in our first year of operation.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My husband has been an amazing force in the success of Sweet P and Sky. He has been my biggest fan, and my harshest, most honest critic. He has supported me on this journey, even when his hands were tied with his own business. No matter how busy he got, he has always taken the time to hear me out, read my writing and give an opinion when one was needed. The funniest and sweetest thing is how he researches and buys products that would help take Sweet P and Sky to the next level. I could not have kept going without his support.

Another person who deserves a lot of credit is my childhood friend, Janis Valencia. Day one, when I was unsure and insecure about writing a blog, she had faith in me and simply told me that Sweet P and Sky would succeed. From time to time, she shoots me a text to tell me how much she enjoyed a recent blog post. I cannot say enough how grateful I am for those little texts.

Heather Nieves, who I met through Facebook, when I posted a link, introducing my brand new blog to a women’s group, has become a real friend, and a constant source of inspiration and support. An unlikely, but a wonderful friend, who has helped guide and push me to look within and take flight.

Finally, my parents… need I say more?
