Today we’d like to introduce you to Marisol Garcia.
Marisol is a mother of 2 boys… She’s a birth and postpartum doula and the owner of Together In Birth, a company focused on educating and empowering women and couples to achieve the birth they desire. Her company provides prenatal education classes, workshops, services and guidance throughout the pregnancy and postpartum journey. She is also the Founder of Latina Mothers Collaborative. An organization focused on uplifting professional Latina women, mothers and business owners who focus their work with pregnant and new mothers, offering services that foster a positive and empowering journey into motherhood.
As a young mother, with her oldest son and not knowing exactly how to maneuver through her pregnancy and the choices that were available to women was a difficult journey for her. It wasn’t until the birth of her youngest son that she made it her mission to provide support to couples. Through her own pregnancies and births she has found healing in every couple she has helped and birth she has attended. Marisol received her doula training from Birth Goddess Midwifery, she is an affiliated Bradley Method® instructor, has attended traditional Mexican rebozo workshops for use in labor & postpartum and most recently completed an intense 9-month traditional postpartum course focused on traditional Mexican herbs and remedies for the postpartum mother with Indigemama Ancestral Healing. She is involved with her community and supporting women through their breastfeeding journeys and being an advocate for families, Marisol has represented mothers and families in Sacramento, CA by lobbying for SB63 that allows new mothers and fathers to stay home longer with their newborns, she’s been recognized by the Mayor of Long Beach in the Women’s Leadership Celebration and will continue to support families in whatever way she can by offering an endless list of referrals to other resources available.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been, at times very challenging. However, I have an extreme amount passion for my work and drive to keep pushing through. I have found my space and genuinely enjoy every day. My work is very rewarding and the love and bond I get to share with families make my job so worthwhile.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Together In Birth story. Tell us more about the business.
Together In Birth is a full service prenatal and postpartum company. Marisol specializes in natural childbirth education, supporting families in their journey to becoming parents, advocating and empowering couples to make informed decisions for their birth, care for the laboring and postpartum mother, assistance with initial breastfeeding and valuing their recovery time. Together In Birth also offers classes and workshops focused on baby wearing, newborn care and belly binding.
Marisol takes pride in the quality of care she gives her clients. Women who come to her know they will always be respected, heard and supported. The partner takes on a huge role during this time and they will always be respected as well. She fosters communication between couples and their providers to ensure their birth experience is a positive one.
Marisol has the opportunity to build relationships throughout numerous months with her students and clients. There is more time to get to know each other and create trust. Couples working with Marisol become family. She feels extremely lucky to be able to share such a beautiful time in new parts lives.
As the years go by, Together In Birth has already shown significant growth. Marisol is led by the families she works with, her own support system and her colleagues in her community. Marisol continues to be grounded in her beliefs to lead an honest and ethical company. The more and more families she works with steadily grow her client base.
