Meet Kim Brio of Solsei & Co in

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Brio.

Kim, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Kim Brio, and I’m a graphic & web designer turned serial entrepreneur. I started my first business at 12 years old, and since then have created numerous brands and worked within various industries, learning all of the lessons and tools along the way to build a solid brand. Now, more than 20 years later, I have honed my lifelong gifts of speaking & media, design, and brand & business building into my media company, Solsei & Co. My web and graphic design company has lasted the entirety of my entrepreneurial career and now operates under the Brand It! with Kim moniker. My most recent addition to my brands is Black Girl Biz Club, a free collective of black women entrepreneurs.

Has it been a smooth road?
I’ve dealt with numerous obstacles along the way including business partnerships gone wrong, stolen business ideas that were actually executed upon, and savage legal battles. One thing I can say is that each situation that I made it out of not only made me stronger but taught me business lessons that I credit to my current business success and growth.

We’d love to hear more about the business.
Solsei & Co is a lifestyle and entertainment brand that specializes in producing high-quality media and events from top tier talent. This brand means so much to me because it’s the literal combination of my best professional talents and passions. As a collegiately trained media professional, it’s often hard to find a job in mainstream radio or television. I found myself at a place where I needed to create my own space and platform to produce the media that I wasn’t only trained to produce but also featuring content that speaks from my heart. Solsei is a play-off of the word’s “soul” and “say,” Solsei (pronounced soul-say,) is what your SOUL SAYS. It’s created to be a platform for individuals like myself, with talent, a message, and a purpose.

I’ve also given myself space to expand on my other talents and gifts by launching a mobile app, hosting some creative virtual and “real-life” event experiences, and working hand-in-hand with individuals to build their personal brands and shows. We’re currently focused on growing our programming by working with individuals from all over the world to create their own shows from home that will be professionally edited and syndicated on our network with the assistance of our professional branding and media team.

We’re even growing a sales arm that will allow small businesses to grow with affordable exposure and advertisement with our Black-owned independent media company, and aspiring hustlers to make money with our commissioned sales opportunities. Things are definitely growing!

Our goal is to facilitate growth on a micro & macro level; whether through entertaining & educational content, emotion-provoking media, exposure for small businesses, or our commissioned salesperson opportunities, we’re here to make the world a better place on as many levels as possible.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I’m not currently located in Los Angeles, but here in Chicago and many urban areas like Los Angeles, it’s the perfect place to grow your brand and business. Is it easy? Absolutely not, but that’s what makes it good. If you can survive in a metropolitan area, you can survive anywhere.
