Today we’d like to introduce you to Katy Lopes.
Katy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Brazil. Sao Paulo, coming from a family that has an artistic side, my mom was a theater actress and my dad as a music manager as a second job. So when I was 11, my mom signed me up at acting school, where I spend seven years doing acting for theater and helping her managing events also.
When I turned 18, I figured out that my passion was actually behind the scenes, I was always fascinating for the producer side, thats when I decided to do m BFA in Radio and Television Broadcast. Furthermore, I started working in the industry for one of the most famous Comedy TV Show in Brazil, where I had the most amazing and great experience of my life, in terms of professional and personal.
Since then, I continue doing what I love, and I have so much passion for TV production that brought me here to the US to persuade my dream as a producer. I first came here to get more knowledge from the best of the Entertainment Industry.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Thank god, It has been a smooth and precious road, I think the most struggle part was the language, but I have my husband that is also from the industry, we met at work in Brazil and came together for this new chapter of our lives.
Recently, we finish our continuous studies for producing film and TV, so we support and grown together. One of my short films that I produce and direct was select for one of the best short film festivals, and I got the pleasure to start working at a Netflix TV show and learn so much from this amazing experience.
Also, we were able to bring up our production company that we have in Brazil here in LA, to start doing the best connections between Brazil and the US.

Our business company is based in Sao Paulo Brazil, but nowhere in LA. We’re a team of professionals who love what we do and have an undying passion for video productions.
KL FILMS PRODUCTION first opened its doors in 2012 and since then has been producing videos with impeccable quality and content. From pre-production services all the way through editing, we do everything in our power to create outstanding, award-winning videos and films for our clients, what assets us from the others is the passion, energy and details that we put into everything we do.
Together, with the NGO SH11 that was born 18 years ago that together we do social videos for support human rights such as people that suffer from depression, bullying etc and animal rights thats what really matters for us making the world a consciousness place and make humanity aware of our world have the best.
I’m an animal and earth lover that as aside from production life I have a Reiki crystal shop called Halu Crystal Reiki that I’m also bringing to LA to empower the inner side of everyone. I apply this mindset for everything I do, I try to always help and be reasonable with everyone that I met, because I believe there is always a reason for everything, so we need to give our best as if there is no tomorrow.
What were you like growing up?
I want to grow up from learning from every situation and every detail that crosses my path. That’s, in my opinion, the reason of grown, learning from every situation and place, and extract the best from each situation. My interest is to grow with the industry here in LA and grown as a company to provide the best of audiovisual for the world.
