Meet Glenn and Tanya Addison of Love Pets Photography in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Glenn and Tanya Addison.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We had been in family portraiture for 20 years and then we adopted a dog and it changed our lives forever. Love Pets was inspired by Coco, our beautiful-sweet hearted Great Dane cross Pointer who we rescued from Death Row. It was a defining moment in our lives and we knew we had to find a way to help more animals like Coco find love and happiness.

We built Love Pets Photography to celebrate the connection between human beings and their pets. Everything we do we believe in creating a legacy that celebrates the love and connection animals bring to our lives. It’s also important for us to help abandoned and neglected pets get the second chance at the happy life that they deserve. Pets come into our lives briefly but their little feet undeniably leave the deepest impressions on our hearts. We frame these precious memories so that your bond and relationship is never forgotten.

It began in 2014 in Sydney. The idea was it would be a hobby studio that we would use to photograph a few clients a week and also work with shelters to help them get pets adopted quicker. We also had ideas for different projects that would be fun for people to be involved in with their pets and use the projects to raise money for pets that have been abandoned to shelters. And we did all of this and so far since we began we have raised and donated just over $180,000 to animal welfare which has helped save around 370 pets.

But we also quickly realized how the public was reacting to what we were doing and we got incredibly busy with people wanting to have their pets photographed in a unique way that captured their personality. So we decided to focus all of our time and energy on Love Pets Photography. It has become our baby and our way to make a difference for animals which are incredibly important in our lives.

We saw a huge opportunity to make an even bigger impact on animal welfare by setting up here in West Hollywood. So now we have a Sydney studio and a Los Angeles studio. Its been an amazing ride so far and we look forward to building Love Pets Photography into a household name for pet lovers.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There are always challenges and moving halfway across the world to set up a business while still running businesses in Australia hasn’t been easy but we are driven to bring this to the world. It’s our passion and we love what we create for people.

Please tell us about Love Pets Photography.
Mostly already covered but we are a fine art photography studio that specializes in pet photography, capturing the unique and quirky personalities of each pet that comes into the studio. It’s important we capture the personalities of each pet based on how their humans understand them and love them… Its really about creating a 5-star experience for pets and pet owners. Each experience lasts for 3 hours and is made up of a 60-90 minute photography session. This session is all about play and energy. We do get the pet’s parents involved in this as well so they get to have as much fun as the pets do. Well, nearly anyway.

Once we have the session finished there’s a short break while we prepare the images for the client to view and then we take them into our theatre room to project their artworks on the big screen. This is the most fun for clients because they really have no idea what to expect and watching their faces as they see the images for the first time is priceless for us. There’s often giggles, tears, and general disbelief about what we were able to create of their baby. It’s a very exciting and rewarding experience.

We understand that pets bring so much joy and for our clients this love as a gift. Our pets are incredible for so many reasons. They know so much about how we feel and they live in the moment. They’re present all the time and as people, we can learn so much from that. They give us their entire lives and we give them such a small part of our life which I find amazing.

What we encourage our clients to think about it. In 20 years when their pet is no longer with you when you look up on your wall and see a beautiful artwork of them what would you want to see and how would you want to remember them? We are mostly known for creating a special and caring experience that leaves people feeling grateful. I think what we are most proud of is how many shelter pets we have been able to help save because of our vision.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing!
