Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Tillman.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My dating coaching journey began in 2008 through a personal blog about dating.
Initially, the subject matter I focused on was why I liked dating in LA while so many others hated it (which still seems to be the case). I also focused on the dating and sex double-standards in regards to gender.
This ultimately led to me hosting my own radio show and podcast for 5 years. In the last couple years, I’ve shifted my brand to include consent education, including my new How-To book, The Consent Guidebook, because it’s clear that consent is not something everyone grew up hearing about.
Has it been a smooth road?
For a lot of my career, I’ve worked as a solopreneur, which can be lonely at times. Luckily, I know a lot of other solopreneurs that I can reach out to if I need advice. Also, it can be hard to deal with income fluctuations. It’s just a part of the game though. Usually, if I’ve experienced a struggle in my business, I take the opportunity to troubleshoot and see if I can find another solution.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Dating Advice Girl – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My business and brand focus on empowering singles in the dating process by helping them improve their social skills, communication skills, and get clear on their dating goals and objectives, while also respecting the boundaries others in the process. Consent education has become a big focus of what I do, so much so that I wrote a consent How-To book that was published in April 2018 called The Consent Guidebook. My dating coaching sessions can include any of these topics depending on my client’s goals and objectives.
I’m most proud that I am an inclusive dating empowerment coach that doesn’t give one-size-fits-all advice. I have had clients of different lifestyles, genders, and sexual orientations which sets me apart from other dating coaches. I am also ‘in the field’ regularly on dating websites and apps, attending sexuality conferences, speaking to and getting feedback from college students which keeps me informed about the ever-evolving world of dating.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The positives about LA: there’s always something to do in LA, every night of the week! Also, this is a city where you can be who you want and live how you want. There aren’t many other cities like this!
The negatives about LA: traffic, having to always be concerned with parking! Also, I see a lot of small businesses struggling in this economy. This city needs to support diversity in culture, businesses, food, entertainment because that’s what makes this city great!
