Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Julie Glick, Au.D.
Dr. Glick was first introduced to custom in-ear monitors and musicians earplugs 20 years ago when she started her career in a private practice in Beverly Hills, California. Her passion for music and commitment to the field of audiology led her to recognize that the optimization of the live performances of musicians and hearing conservation was a niche she wanted to be involved in from the very beginning. Over the past twenty years, Julie has spent invaluable time with monitor/sound engineers and has been backstage and in rehearsal studios with musicians of all genres. She has also worked as an audiologist for two years at Sensaphonics Hearing Conservation in Chicago. Through all of these unique experiences, she has gained great insight and appreciation for all the technical details that go into live musical performances and how important hearing and hearing conservation is to not only musicians but to the fans as well. Dr. Glick’s knowledge and technical expertise of sound, hearing and hearing conservation make her an extremely valuable asset to the music community.
Dr. Glick received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Hearing Science from The Ohio State University, Master of Science in Communicative Disorders from California State University, Northridge and Doctor of Audiology from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, School of Audiology. Dr. Glick is a licensed Audiologist in the states of New York and California, a licensed Hearing Instrument Dispenser in the state of New York and a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am very lucky to have found a niche in my career that is the perfect combination of my passion and my studied profession. It allows me to be creative, technical, science-oriented, compassionate and to have a positive effect on peoples’ quality of life and live performances. I am grateful for every opportunity presented to me whether it’s improving someone’s hearing with the use of the outstanding hearing aid technology we have today or being backstage with musicians at a concert. I’m looking forward to continuing to bring my knowledge and expertise to the community in Los Angeles.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Musicians Hearing Solutions® – what should we know?
I formed my boutique private in New York City in 2010 and have since moved to Los Angeles in 2017. My inspiration to create Musicians Hearing Solutions® stemmed from my recognition that musicians and audio enthusiasts deserved the opportunity to decide for themselves, along with my expert guidance, what type of sound quality and hearing protection was most appropriate based on their unique listening needs and preferences.
Whether you are looking for a pair of custom earphones to travel with or wear on a daily basis with your music player or are using in-ear monitors as a tool in live performances to hear your performance more accurately and at lower levels, I will help you decide what the right products are for you by learning an in-depth history of your listening environments and needs.
Being Los Angeles’s foremost audiology practice specializing in working with musicians and hi-fidelity audio, I also have on hand demonstration models of all in-ear monitors that I carry which will enable you to spend time listening to the sound signature of the products you are interested in before they are customized.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Customer service is of foremost importance to my success. Personal detail and understanding of each person’s needs that I serve along with follow-up and care. I value this for myself and hope that every person who I work with feels they have received the best care possible.
