Meet BIANCA Varela

Today we’d like to introduce you to BIANCA Varela.

BIANCA, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was introduced to music at a very young age but didn’t discover my talent at singing until I had to memorize a bible verse when I was in kindergarten. I remember I had a difficult time memorizing the verse, so my dad turned the verse into a song, which I then sang in front of my class.

From there my parents had me singing in the church choir, as well as putting me into musical theater so I could become better as a performer.

I began songwriting at the age of eight years old after my dad’s best friend taught me that I could express my emotions through music. He would sit with me for hours teaching me how to improvise in melodies and then add lyrics to the melodies I had just come up with.

Fast forward to college and I found myself majoring in musical theater. I just couldn’t connect to the acting part as well as I could the musical part, so that was when I decided to pursue being a solo artist. I just wanted to create music in order to share my emotions, my story, and connect with an audience.

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. There have definitely been massive learning lessons along the way, but those lessons have shaped me into the artist I am today. If there is one lesson I can leave here for any aspiring artists, it’s to make sure you have a fantastic entertainment lawyer in your corner.

What else should we know?
My artist name is BIANCA, I’m a singer-songwriter and I specialize in Urban Pop. I’m truly proud of how hands-on I am with my music. I write all my material myself and I’m lucky to work with talented producers. It’s rewarding to finish a song and make something that becomes a new sound. My visuals that I put out are also part of my creative ideas. I have a very clear vision of who I am as an artist, which also includes creative direction, and I think that’s what sets me apart from others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I’ve lived in Los Angeles my entire life. LA has never disappointed me. I consider myself very lucky to have witnessed the evolution of the music, fashion, and art scenes over the years.
