Meet Begum Uz of B Hypnotized in Encino

Today we’d like to introduce you to Begum Uz.

Begum, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I originally started my journey in the marketing field in my home country of Turkey, when I was a college student. I was fascinated by the effects of human behavior and psychology towards purchasing. After I graduated, I came to the US to pursue my master’s degree. Following my graduation, I had a chance to explore the marketing industry in LA as well. Although I always believed that working in the marketing field was my dream, I simply wasn’t happy in any company or any position. As a result, I was looking for better options constantly. This unconscious stress and anxiety resulted in a very unhealthy habit: biting my nails.

I was constantly biting my nails to the point that they were bleeding. I researched different approaches to stop nail-biting. I tried getting manicures more often, using bitter nail polish and wearing gloves but nothing really helped. Finally, I heard about self-hypnosis and I started practicing self-hypnosis daily. In approximately two months, I was able to stop biting my nails with consistent self-hypnosis!

I was shocked to find out that I was able to use my mind’s power to overcome a big struggle in my life. This really opened my eyes to many things. I started questioning how I can change other areas of my life with my mind power.

Eventually, I completed a 1-year hypnotherapy education program topped with an internship at the Hypnosis Motivation Institute (HMI) which is the only accredited college of hypnotherapy in the whole nation. After an intense and extensive education, I was ready to help as many people as I can. Since then, I am passionate about helping people in various areas especially in regaining physical health by improving conditions such as migraines, fibromyalgia, back pain, etc. (MD referral required). I am also volunteering at the Heal One World, a non-profit self-improvement studio. I am teaching self-hypnosis to others so that they can start changing their lives, just like I did!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been obstacles and I’ve learned many lessons throughout my journey. The main obstacle I ran into was the inaccurate information about hypnosis and hypnotherapy out there. Unfortunately, many people still think hypnosis is a mind-control technique. On the contrary, hypnosis is nothing but a very focused state of awareness where the body is relaxed and the mind is more suggestible. I really took my time to teach as many people as I can about the real facts about hypnosis and hypnotherapy. My goal is for hypnotherapy to become a mainstream health approach that is widely used and accepted throughout the world.

Also, many people think hypnotherapy can only help with a limited number of issues, such as fears, weight loss and quitting smoking. The truth is, hypnotherapy can help with almost anything because every day is shaped by our subconscious mind. Hypnotherapy is the ultimate subconscious therapy.

B Hypnotized – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a Certified Hypnotherapist and I am also a Certified specialist in helping clients with smoking cessation, past life regression therapy, pain management, and childbirth hypnosis. I help my clients connect with their subconscious mind and improve their physical and mental health with hypnotherapy sessions.

Although I work with different types of issues, mostly, I help individuals who are dealing with a physical condition and feel “stuck”. These conditions include migraines, back pain, cancer, fibromyalgia, alopecia or anything we can overcome by mastering our mind. Physical conditions don’t always have to give you a negative feeling. Childbirth can be a fearful event for some as well. I also work with a lot of mom-to-be’s for them to have a painless childbirth experience. In these cases, we work with the referral of the individual’s doctor to provide the best care possible.

As a millennial, I am continuously learning and researching to hone my craft. I always provide my clients with the latest research and data that can help them get out of their negative thinking. I can relate to my clients easily because most of the time, I’ve been in their shoes as well and already have found a way out. Most of my clients describe me as being very open and non-judgmental. People who are looking for a logical understanding of their spiritual awakening usually find my approach healing for their journey.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I am always inspired by helping someone to the point that it can change their life. When my clients come to my office, they usually feel very hopeless and stuck. At the end of our therapy, seeing them feeling very healthy and strong after a long time in their life is the most rewarding moment. When someone achieves the “impossible” and breaks the “normal”, that person discovers a different mechanism within himself/herself. For every person that can reach this discovery with my help, I feel very proud of myself and them.

Hello, Begum. I’d be interested in knowing how you broke into therapy for chronic illness. Thanks!
