Life and Work with Holly Logan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Logan.

Holly, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have wanted to be a comedian since the age of 5 when I told jokes to other children in the neighborhood. To me, it was a childhood dream but nothing I pursued. That is until 2017. I have had 2 brain surgeries, one in 2013 and one in 2016. I was born with a defect called Chiari Malformation. This caused the bottom of my brain to be trapped in my spinal cord. For me, it causes left side weakness and stroke-like symptoms. In 2013, I had the first decompression surgery and it was a success. In 2016, I got hit by a car from behind and it knocked my brain back down so I had the second decompression. All good now! After the second surgery, I thought what am I doing? I’ve had two brain surgeries and have been given 2-second chances. And I began to follow my dreams and have been following ever since.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest obstacle I’ve encountered is myself. I am hard on myself and have an expectation on myself to be perfect. I learned to let that go and the journey has been amazing since.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others.
I specialize in ME! I love to make people laugh!
What sets me apart is that I am ME and quite simply no one else can be that… ME.

Who have you been inspired by?
My Mommy
Viola Davis
Ruby Dee
Wanda Sykes
Meryl Streep
Lucille Ball
