Today we’d like to introduce you to Star Logan.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I got my license for esthetics back in 2010. So I’ve been licensed over 12 years now. I moved to LA from the San Francisco Bay Area right after getting licensed thinking I had a passion for makeup of all things. I wanted to do high-class movie makeup. Funny enough that was very short-lived. I didn’t like the industry at all & found myself wondering what other ways I could use my skincare license since I had already went to school. I remembered how good I was at waxing during school & how much I genuinely enjoyed it. That’s when I decided to really dive into the waxing world and give it all my attention. Got my first job as a waxer and never looked back.
After working for a nationally recognized waxing brand for close to five years, rising to lead waxer, regional trainer and always setting a really high bar in my field, life happened and forced me to get out there on my own & really get into the entrepreneurial side of things. I started working for myself in Oakland and in Pasadena. I would travel between the two places once a week. I needed family support with my son back in the Bay Area, but I still wanted to build my brand here in Los Angeles. So I did what was necessary. I still travel back and fourth to this day. This all began about 4 years ago. I have a storefront in Pasadena & I rent a suite in Oakland where I work 2 weekends a month. Very hard work. But I genuinely love what I do.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It most certainly has not always been a smooth ride. I have a now 10-year-old son, we live in Pasadena, and really not much family here. So that consistently has been an area of struggle. Also, Covid hit hard only 1 year into working solely for myself. Being in the beauty industry, we were most certainly affected. But I think just all the unknown things were and continue to be the biggest struggle, being a new entrepreneur, you literally never know what’s going to happen next. I didn’t go to school for business or marketing or any of those thing, only for skin care & waxing. So I’m learning everything as I go, that can be a scary feeling. Making mistakes, simple things can turn into big things. Now with a storefront in Pasadena, everything is new all over again. Also traveling to Oakland every other weekend most certainly is a stressful yet rewarding thing. All my family is there & a lot of my lifelong friends, it’s so amazing to service them, but makes for a very tired esthetician.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about TheeVsuite?
I’m a licensed esthetician and I specialize in Brazillan waxing & Vajacials! I also do V steaming, Facials and make my own all-natural skin products in-store. They call me “Thee Vagina Whisperer” because I’m known to do a quick & minimal pain Brazilian wax & I have so much passion for helping women learn about how to properly care for their skin in their private areas. I think for so long women were taught to feel shame associated with their vaginas and I’m so glad that narrative is changing & that I can be a part of that. A Vagina is a natural thing, every woman has one & should feel proud and empowered surrounding it. Most women look at me crazy the first time I ask them what’s their skincare routine for their vaginas because most women don’t even know you should have one. But you very much should. It’s skin just like the rest of your body. I also offer full-body waxing & my products are great for all over the body. I offer facials as well and again have products for that as well. I want people to know that when you step into TheeVsuite you will get an experience like no other. It’s a safe place to talk, ask questions& learn about all things skincare. From the top of your head to the bottom of your feet. We will take great care of you. Oh and just because we are called TheeVsuite, doesn’t mean we don’t treat men! We do offer facials and waxing for men as well & have special products formulated for men as well.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love about Pasadena is the diversity. I love that I walk down the street and see a little bit of everyone. I feel welcome in this community. It’s a small community, but still has a little of that city vibe that being a girl from San Francisco, I really do need. What I hate most about the city is all the parking rules. You never know when you are going to walk outside to a ticket. Even on your own block.
