Hidden Gems: Meet Shahin Ghadir of Southern California Reproductive Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shahin Ghadir.

Hi Shahin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As an OBGYN, I realized that I love bringing life into this world. And when I got involved in fertility, I realized that I had the opportunity to participate in one of the most advancing fields in the world of medicine, which involves both science and clinical practice, while still bringing a beautiful life into this world.

I am a founding partner of Southern California Reproductive Center and am double board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Currently, I am an assistant clinical professor in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and at The Keck School of Medicine at USC. After serving on the board of directors of Path2Parenthood and Neuromuscular Disease Foundation (NDF) and receiving numerous academic accolades and honors, I have become one of the top physicians for egg freezing, with one of the highest success rates in the USA.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Every career path has its own struggles. For myself, one of my proudest accomplishments was getting into a fertility fellowship program at my #1 choice, which was UCLA and Cedars Sinai combined program – it was a dream come true.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Southern California Reproductive Center?
I am a founding partner of Southern California Reproductive Center (SCRC), which is widely acclaimed as one of the best fertility centers to treat infertility struggles, SCRC is your reproductive clinic from diagnosis to delivery with fertility services and IVF in Beverly Hills/Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Pasadena, and surrounding areas.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
During my academic career, I had an older sister who had friends that I looked up to tremendously that helped guide me through the medical school process, the residency process, and finally, the fellowship process. Once I completed all of that and joined my practice, I was eligible to become a member of YPO, Young Presidents’ Organization, which has allowed me to have an incredible number of mentors and peer confidants. The support I have received has been extraordinary for my career.

Additionally, my podcast, The Fertile Life, has been instrumental in finding advice and networking. On The Fertile Life, I interview guests about their paths to parenthood and dive into discussions around how the road to becoming a parent differs for all. Some of the noteworthy past guests include Molly Sims, Rachel Zeilic, Scheana Shay, and Caroline Stanbury.
