Daily Inspiration: Meet Daniel Lawrence Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Lawrence Wilson.

Hi Daniel Lawrence, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always loved art, storytelling, music, photography and at an early age, I discovered that filmmaking is a medium that combines those interests.

Early on, I got my Bachelors in Film, Masters in Entertainment Business, and started my own company immediately after college. I did music videos for two years while living in Florida, mainly working in the Hip-Hop industry then switching to producing national and international content for brands over the past five years.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I think anyone that runs their own business or does anything creative will run into various amounts of obstacles along the way.

Situations will continue to be unpredictable, but accepting them and solving them head-on is the only way to continue to move forward.

For me, the best way to get through obstacles and challenges is to surround yourself with the right relationships. You can do anything with a great team.

I still struggle with being a perfectionist but have learned to embrace obstacles because it usually ends up working itself out.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a Writer/Producer/Director/Editor that specializes in commercials and films.

I’m known for producing cinematic quality productions and have spent my career overseeing the execution of projects in every aspect from beginning to end.

Commercially I enjoy working with brands that want more than just the average marketing material. I like to believe just because it involves a product, it doesn’t have to be boring or a hard ask for a sale. If you create an experience for your audience, they will remember you.

Currently, I’ve been producing and directing my first film entitled A Brush of Violence. We’re almost done with shooting and are in post-production with plans to release in 2022. It was the most challenging thing I have done with one year of writing, six months of prep, fourteen locations, twenty-one days of filming, and over sixty cast/crew/extras. It continues to challenge me in new ways and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What matters most to you?
Process and progress. It’s what keeps me motivated to continue down this path.
