Daily Inspiration: Meet Abimbola (Abby) Ayoola

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abimbola (Abby) Ayoola.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my Entrepreneurship journey in 2015 when I got fired from my job. At that time, I was raising three kids aged 7, 5 and 3, it was hard to find babysitters because my job at the time was mostly in the night time so when I got fired, I had to do what was best for my children, which was me starting my own business so I can be in charge of my time and be home to raise my children properly and give them my time.

I got to where I am today by changing my mindset about success. I use to be afraid of becoming successful, so I usually shy away from doing activities that would propel my business forward and self sabotage myself because at that time I didn’t know my worth and I wasn’t aware of the power of my mind. I started reading self-help books, mindset shift books and finally in 2017 with the help of a very kind lady named Moy Fung, who advised me and helped me to publish my first book called Waistless: How to transform your waist in 30 days. Since then, I have published over 25 books and journals varying from cookbooks, vegan cookbooks, journals for pregnant women and many more.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Entrepreneurship is never a smooth road because you are doing the jobs of eight employees, you represent your brand everywhere you go and it’s 24/7. You don’t get to take time off. It’s like you bought yourself a job so am always looking for ways of how I can be hands off my businesses and put a system in place so am not burning out myself. I try to include my older children in my businesses as much as I can so they too can learn about Entrepreneurship and hopefully one day, they will be able to continue the legacy and run my businesses.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Podcast Host, Author, Publisher, Co-creator of Naija Wives Reality Show and I have a shapewear and supplement line.

I am most proud of my books and journals that I have written over the past 5 years.

What sets me apart from others is my drive, I love to get things done in a timely manner all while raising my six children, staying in shape, which helps that my Husband Wayne Williams is a personal trainer so he keeps me In shape. I wear a lot of hats during the day, I schedule interviews, do interviews for my podcast, I record, I edit, I executive produce a reality show once a year and despite my busy schedule, I still manage to smile through it all.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Risk taking is part of life. If you don’t take any risks, then you will never know your potential or how awesome you can be. For example, there was a time in my life where I worked for a wellness company. My mentor at the time set up a big dinner meeting where you get to present the opportunity. She sets up the wellness dinner meeting and then told me she won’t be in town for it, so she pretty much threw me in the ocean and told me it’s either you swim or sink. That was a major life lesson for me because it allowed me to get out of my own head and my own way and do what I had to do. The wellness dinner went great and I am forever grateful for that growth in my life.

I have taken a lot of risks in my professional life and my personal life. I am the type of person that do then think about it later. I have a few companies that I have started in the Food, Tech, Beauty, Media and Health industry that I am currently building and sometimes it can get overwhelming but I wouldn’t change it for the world because I thrive more in an environment where I am multitasking.
