Conversations with the Inspiring Trish Lindo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trish Lindo.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up in Hollywood, Florida and moved to LA in my early twenties. I moved here to work in the entertainment industry. I wasn’t sure what kind of career I wanted in the industry but I knew I wanted to be part of the glitz and glamour. I lived in North Hollywood and worked mainly as a freelance production assistant for various studios and media companies. I landed at E! Entertainment along with other entertainment companies and worked my way up to producer. I’d say, I wasn’t really sure how the path I wanted to take but I was fortunate that I was able to work consistently and created a network of people who always thought of me if a producer job came available. I knew in Los Angeles, it was all about relationships and building your network, so I always made that a priority. Sometimes, I took smaller jobs because I knew it would help me to further build my career as an entertainment producer. I transitioned to creating content for digital companies while cultivating my IG as a fashion influencer. It’s something I’ve always enjoyed and Instagram was the perfect platform to explore it.

Has it been a smooth road?
There were definitely hard times. Not knowing where your next opportunity would arise and just in general not knowing if what I was doing was actually the right thing. I would say trust your instincts has been my best skill in navigating the inevitable ups and downs. If something didn’t feel right, I would rely on my gut and walk away. I almost never made the same mistake twice, especially when it comes to business. If someone says you can expect your payment in two weeks and it doesn’t happen for two months, I never worked with them again… no matter how great the next project was. If it happened once it will happen again and it was a high risk I frankly couldn’t afford at the time. I would also recommend being very careful the people you have around you. When you first move to Los Angeles, everything is magical and you meet a lot of people who seem just as magical. But I learned that not everyone has your best interest and I learned how to be more discerning about the company I kept around. “You become like the five people you spend the most time with. Choose carefully.”

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into TrishLindoStyle story. Tell us more about the business.
I consider myself an inspirational and fashion influencer. I inspire people on a daily basis to become more self-aware and to live the life they’ve always dreamed about. Even when the road gets a bit difficult you can always find the silver lining. I’m also a fashionista who loves all things stylish and I also take pics of other influencers from time to time.

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
I think finding a mentor comes down to being open and to focus on what you want. If you want to be a fashion photographer or chef you wouldn’t look for guidance by surrounding yourself with doctors, you would look to other chefs who are doing the work that you’re interested in doing. I’ve made sure to go to events and networking opportunities that have people that are in my the field I’m interested in. I also reach out to people on Linkedin or IG to meet up for coffee, because I wanted to learn more about what they do. You gotta be willing to get a bit uncomfortable sometimes to get to where you want to be in life.
