Hi Stacy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I truly believe people can do anything they set their mind to and I am proof of that. Almost six years ago, I had open heart surgery for a congenital condition I never knew I had. Despite working in the medical field and having a successful career as a Nurse Practitioner my myocardial bridge (MCB) went undiagnosed for years, even while I was running races. MCB is a condition that can cause unexpected lethal cardiac events and is often the reason runners collapse and die. I was determined to have the surgery so I could regain my life even though I was told I would most likely only have a 75% quality of life after recovery. But the medical professionals underestimated who I am and the mindset I live by… “Transform your mind and you can accomplish anything, you can do anything you set your mind to.” Stacy Beckly
Rolling into the operating room, I realized how short life is and that I wasn’t living mine the way I always wanted to. So I made a promise that if I survived and had no major life-altering complications, I would go after what I always wanted to do and not let anything stand in my way. This was the defining moment where the fire in my soul for acting was reignited. Once I fully recovered, and I am happy to say at 110%!!, I set out on my journey to become a professional successful working actress. My goal was to be the lead in intense fighter action and thriller productions. I gained a lot of weight during my recovery so one of my first objectives was to get into the best shape of my life so I could be incredibly fit for those roles. I accomplished this simply by eating healthy and exercising. I shared my journey on my Instagram to show others you don’t have to starve, take pills or crash diet to reach your fitness goals. I focused my fitness on High Intensity Interval Training, boxing and kickboxing. I have professional on camera and theatre acting training from Howard Fine, Margie Haber Studio and Z/A Studio. I am represented by Jillian West of Spark Talent Agency and David Rosenblatt of Rosenblatt Management. I am thrilled to say I reached my overall goal of being the lead action female in productions and will continue to do so. I choose non-conventional acting roles that tell meaningful stories and are impactful to the audience. My latest feature film A Killer Rising, does just that. I star as FBI agent Kacee Rhona, who is a deeply damaged soul tormented by her own past demons. She struggles to find stability in life but continuously succumbs to frustration and violence. It can be seen on Amazon Prime, GooglePlay, TubiTV and YouTube and has an excellent star rating and rave reviews! I have solid British (RP), Southern, French and Brooklyn accents and I also sing. I have training in utility stunts, weapons and Muay Thai fighting. I am originally from Richmond, Virginia and I’m also a writer and producer and I run my own production company Odelia Beck Productions.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey in acting has definitely been met with many obstacles that I have had to overcome. I went through a difficult divorce and had to overcome a lot of emotional and financial hardship. I also have had to deal with lack of support from people I was counting on to be there who weren’t. However, instead of letting it get me down, I allowed it to deepen my belief in myself and push me to work even harder to succeed. I have and will continue to make good on the promise I made years ago. “Even in moments when you feel like the world is against you, you have to stay focused on what you desire most, for you are the only one who can truly decide what you can and cannot do.” Stacy Beckly
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am extremely competitive, hardworking and determined to realize my dreams and I never give up, I persevere. I have experience working in Trauma Surgery as a Nurse Practitioner and in Skin/Wound Care as well as in Nursing Management. I am a kickboxing coach and I’m working on my personal training certification. I strive for and bring a lot to acting roles where I utilize my training, experience and knowledge. Due to the COVID19 pandemic I took the opportunity to make a difference and went back into the healthcare field working as an Infection Preventionist. I love helping and inspiring others and strive to have a positive impact on their lives on and off screen. I recently partnered with the American Heart Association to help save lives by sharing my story and using my voice, education and experience in healthcare. When it comes to my acting I am not just all tough cop, FBI agent, vigilante and villain roles. I enjoy being the quirky doctor or the super fun lighthearted humorous gal that will have the audience laughing out loud. If I could sum up myself and my acting in just a few sentences it would be this:
“I’m a fierce, passionate fighter of injustice who inspires. They can try to beat me but I’ll win every time. I can be someone’s greatest ally or their worst enemy. They decide.” Stacy Beckly
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I LOVE watching and playing football and I was the MVP for my high school powderpuff football game.
