Story & Lesson Highlights with Joel LeBlanc

We recently had the chance to connect with Joel LeBlanc and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Joel, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
My confidence in myself. I spent many years believing I was not good enough to follow my dream. Today I know I have what it takes and I am ready for what lies ahead of me. There are some many obstacles in front of you so you can’t be another thing standing in the way of your happiness.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello my name Is Joel LeBlanc. I am an actor in LA and like everyone else I am trying to find my way in this competitive industry. I chose this career because its what I love and I am focusing hard to ensure I find my path. I Trained with Jon Simmons who is one of the best Acting teachers in the industry and he helped my hone my craft and find my passion. I have had the incredible Opportunity to star Along side David Howard Thornton in the short film entitled, Jokers Wild on youtube. Learning from him was such an amazing experience and I truly learned a lot. I have many exciting opportunities ahead of me and I am so excited for what is ahead. This is only the start of my Journey.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I owe many people for believing in me, but there are three in particular that really helped me find myself. The First person is Parker Green who helped me find my confidence when I had lost it. He helped me see that I can chase my dreams and put me back on my journey as an actor. The second is Hunter Williams who believed in me and helped me land the role that changed my life. The third person is Peter Smith who helped me find my connection to characters. He helped me see things that I couldn’t see in the script and that changed my acting forever.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that I am not good enough to be happy. Whether its not good looking enough, not strong enough, not skilled enough or simply not confident enough I doubted every aspect of who I am. I looked in the mirror and told myself I was happy when I spent years feeling sorry for myself. Even if no one else believes in you, you have to believe in yourself. I struggle daily but I no longer let it hold me back from what I love.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I used to believe you cant make it in the industry, but now I know that nothing is definite. As far as we know you only get one life so why not use it to chase your passion. Fight for yourself and at the very least you can say you tried.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Stop caring about when I would die and live fully for today. Wake up everyday thankful I am still alive and find the peace in the fact that nothing is permanent. Be present and find your happiness.
