We recently had the chance to connect with Jessica Díaz and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
What I am the most proud of building that no one sees is a healthy, happy version of myself. I have been attending therapy for approximately 7 years and can definitely admit I have paid my dues. I have worked so hard to unravel hard truths, heal traumas, learn myself, and stay true to myself. However just like anything, therapy is a learning process and a limitless journey.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, my name is Jessica but on social media I am known as
” JESSSIIIBOOO”.
I love to share my day to day life with my online friends and show them that the opportunities aside from a 9-5 are limitless.
I am a full time county worker and specialize in supportive services such as substance use, domestic violence, and mental health however I walk red carpets, attend album release events, movie premiers, and much more after I clock out.
I guess you can say I’m an employee during the day and a social media content creator at night but in all reality, 24/7.
My content is fashion based and glam. I aspire to inspire women to feel confident, empowered, share tips and tricks, and just be present when engaging with them. I’m so grateful to have the opportunities that are yet to come and the experiences I have lived. Soy Mexicana – Americana viviendo mis sueños que tuve desde niña.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My mother has been the prime example of enjoying the fruits of your labor. She’s the most hardworking woman I know. My mother built her world from zero and made sure my siblings and I never lacked the necessities needed to live. My mother taught me to never owe anyone anything and to work hard for everything I need and want. My mother taught me that there is no such thing as a limited belief because of everything she’s accomplished. Growing up my siblings and I were always book smart, over achievers in education receiving multiple awards, and earned promotions at our employments which are all a reflection of my mother and her work ethic.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
GODs Timing, Universe Aligning
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I used to believe that everything was black or white however I came to understand that there are grey areas. I learned that people have different experiences, views, and ways of thinking.
Also came to comprehend to have an open mind and be willing to explore different ideas. People’s different ways of life is what makes the world go around.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
Since I was a very young child, my dream career has always been to become a Police Officer. Although I contributed to my own preparation for that career, I graduated with a BA in Criminology and never followed through with that goal. I have trained with marines, I attended LAPD CADET ACADEMY & COMMUNITY ADULT ACADEMY, ran cross country, and also my life consisted of late nights at the gym because I knew I needed the stamina. I was mentally strong and capable of taking over the world then. Present day today, my career of choice has changed. Who knows what the future holds. Maybe one day I will revisit my knowledge in the field.
