Ed Gage shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Ed, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Every time I get booked on a project, I always feel that it’s a major accomplishment no matter how big or small the project is.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m an actor, musician, martial artist and stuntman in Los Angeles, CA. I’ve worked on countless projects since my arrival in 2017.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I remember when I got onstage in front of a crowd for the very first time and managed to blow the roof off at the age of 12, I definitely felt a sense of power. Something different. That I had the capability to become somebody. Same thing happened when I acted in my first film at age 17, I felt that same power.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Countless times. I almost hung it up for good. I’m sure glad I didn’t. Being in the entertainment industry let alone life in general, you have to be resilient. It can bring you to your knees and kick you down and make you stay down if you let it. Thankfully surrounding myself with good people and having that following of people that believe in what I do contributed to me never giving up and I’m grateful for that.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
That whatever everyone else thinks about me matters. I made the mistake of believing that for way too long. The only one individual’s opinion that matters the most is my own. I was once told that I was my “own biggest fan”. Truth is, you have to be your own biggest fan and believe in yourself. Otherwise, what’s the point?
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I never gave up, and that I always believed that the sky was the limit.
